NCAA 2021: Michigan vs. UCLA Open Thread

Who knows? Maybe because they were up against an 11-seed in an Elite Eight game and they psyched themselves out? It’s a big stage. They weren’t up to it tonight.

Frustrating to see the season end like that. I firmly believe we were the better team than UCLA, but you have to tip your hat to them, they played tough defense and made us uncomfortable all night. We will have many more runs for years to come, this program is in a great place. It hurts right now, but sometimes you have to remind yourself it’s just a bunch of kids throwing a ball through a hoop. See you all next year!

Dickinson needs to work on his right hand, if he gets that he will be truly unstoppable!

Me, on the other hand, would gladly sacrifice your marriage for another Final Four appearance

So did Juwan not utilize him well tonight?? He was a mess, we didn’t see much passing on display. I am not sure about a projectable shot it went in the pooper come tourney time. There are things to like but there are some average NBA players that would eat Wagner alive.

I appreciate the relative positivity here, the other Michigan boards are probably on fire. Good season, guys.

Come on, a Big Ten title is always huge. Don’t let this loss sour you on the whole season.

Driving the length of the court and shooting looked like a designed play. The screens were set to give him momentum and one guy to shoot over. Juwan is 100000x smarter at basketball than me so maybe my gripe about driving the court and shooting is not a big deal. I just don’t like someone that is 1-7 shooting in the game taking that.

The question is if not Franz or smith then who? Look for brown or draw up a play for the tie. I dunno. Again I’m just an idiot on my couch who sees things that don’t make sense and calls them out. If I drew up that play Michigan probsbly ends up scoring in UCLAs basket or something because I’m that dumb.

But it’s possible to disagree with what I perceive the strategy and logic were on those plays and that’s how I feel. If we make one of those I’m sure I’m saying it’s brilliant that he stuck with his guys and drew up a perfect play to get Franz open.

I’m rambling. This loss just really hit me harder than most I’ve experienced in my life

Austin Davis played well. He was efficient down low but he’s not the player that Dickinson is. However, Davis footwork and variety of post moves is what made him a viable post option as a backup. He put in the work and he could’ve transferred out of Michigan but he stuck with it. He’s not the most athletic player but he plays hard

Did not expect Michigan to play so poorly tonight and I am happy that they made the Elite Eight and were one game away from the Final Four. But boy, I am not sure what next year’s team will look like given that we will only have two experienced starters in Dickinson and BJJ coming back

if Franz had made 18 3pters tonight Michigan would have won. By a lot

You guys are kicking Franz out of the NBA Draft after a bad game? Where does that put Scottie Barnes?

Amazing that the open thread after a loss is largely positive and it’s apocalyptic down 2 at the U8 in the first half. I love you guys. Thanks for a great season. Can’t wait for next one.
