NCAA 2021: Michigan vs. UCLA Open Thread

Props to them as well cause they played some nice d. They stayed on the floor, didn’t fall for head fakes downlow ect. or give easy angles. Everything Hunter got was a tough shot.

I mean yeah no one shot well today but Franz was particularly off all over the court regardless of shot. I’m fine with giving him the first look but when he nearly airballed that I am looking anywhere else.

Mike Smith has to dribble the length of the court and take a step back 3? Just doesn’t make sense to me but Juwan knows basketball a million times more than me. I just wish his faith in his guys was rewarded

Because that’s not accurate. It’s just a narrative that people use to explain randomness. If those two teams played that same game, with those same shots, 10 times, Michigan wins 9. This wasn’t their night, but it’s not because of a lack of intestinal fortitude, any more than losing a poker hand to a guy who pulled an inside straight is due to being soft.

Decent chance he hasn’t made that shot he took in PRACTICE all year. Hoping for a foul, is a better chance than that. Or at the very least, square-up more on that shot and take advantage of the space.

The nature of a single elimination tournament is that the better team sometimes gets bounced. I have no doubt that we would win a 7 game series against UCLA.

He may not be ready but he’s gone. Projected as a lottery pick to mid 1st round.

People want Chaundee to get shots at the end as if you can just magically get the guy open. It’s easy to guard one dimensional players down the stretch

Man sometimes I wish I didn’t care about sports

What stings the most was how unrecognizable they were tonight. No words for what I just witnessed. At least we don’t have to worry about getting run out of the gym by Gonzaga if we played like we did tonight again.

Great season though. Expectations were much lower coming in. Big Ten title. Elite 8 without Livers. That’s a success. Go Blue.

I strongly believe we are much better than them and not getting to a final four and hanging that banner because of that team is excruciating.

I already have a seat for Las Vegas. I’m hoping things are back to normal by then.

I was at the Florida and FSU Elite Eight games, and I wasn’t able to go to Kentucky or (obviously) this one. So I’ll take the blame, and I’ll make damned sure to go next year when Juwan makes it five consecutive Elite Eights in his personal Michigan career.

I mean yeah, this loss really sucked. No doubt. Every tourney loss does. That’s the nature of the beast. A close game stings more. A close game you really feel you should’ve had is the worst.

But I’m not going to look back on this season in agony at all. I’m going to look back on it as the start of something special. And right now I’m looking forward to Moussa Diabate sending Foster Loyer to the shadow realm on a poster underneath the 2021 big ten champs banner in front of a packed Crisler.

Disagree. This wasn’t a missing jumpshots thing. It all came down the easiest parts of the game. Making layups, free throws, dead ball turnovers. Clearly was a mental block of some kind.
