Pure bliss other than those Mike and Hunter TOs
You mean to tell me we could have played Maryland and UCLA if only we fell to Oakland?
76 for Mike Smith and it shows on the court but at least he made a timely 3 pt shot which is huge
Yeah, maybe not too worse of a drawâŚ
Or maybe it would, because we wouldnât be in the same side as Maryland?
AHEM!! Ahem
Decided to skip the live thread tonight⌠just couldnât handle the doom and gloom of the past couple days on here. Looks like I will have the 1,251st post of the thread??? Good form everybody! I bet there were some doozies in here.
Go Blue!!
I have been of the opinion that Chaundees defense this year was a little over rated because he offset his aggressive on ball defense with lapses off ball and dumb fouls. Not tonight. He held his own against some great one on one players and this game was made for him to shine and he did. The dominant offense and FT makes were just gravy!
Some people in the last game thread were questioning my statement that I wanted to see Franz show some ability to take over because there would be a time without Livers where someone needs to step up and score and Franz is the most talented. You could say a couple of guys did for Michigan in this one but what Franz did at the end basically closing out the game is exactly what I was hoping to see. He willed himself to at least 3 baskets I can think of
LSU is perfect for him. He canât get lost off ball because they dont do anything off ball. And they arenât fast enough to blow by, they use craft to get off mid range shots instead
Hunterâs lack of maturity or experience or whatever you wanna call it worried me. The foul at halfcourt going for the steal cannot happen. He got called for fouls twice trying to establish position in the post, and he was clearly fouling. But heâs got plenty of pounds and nearly 5-6 inches on the guys trying to guard him. No reason to punch them in the face to get position. Just keep working normally. He still brings so much even with those mistakes â he rebounded well, protects the rim, makes foul shots, and passed really well out of the double â but he can really raise the ceiling of this team even more.
LSU had 3 players that played more minutes today than Michiganâs top guy including 2 (Thomas and Smart) that played all 40 mins and Watford played 35. Franz played the most for Michigan with 33.
Canât play bad off-ball defense when youâre guarding a team that never passes
Can we finally put and end to, when doing pregame analysis, rule out the words âhave toâ? These guys win so many different ways, unless you name like 8 things, youâll be wrong. So many ways to win.
Idk, this went how the game plan to win was laid out by Dylan. Contest everything, play Chaundee > Mike. Focus the offense around feeding Hunter and then playing out of doubles.
Hunterâs weaknesses are showing. He picks up a bad foul or two every game and doesnât respond well to frustration, which is happening more lately. This is a game where he should have feasted a lot more than he did.
Still, he was there with a couple of key plays late, especially that pass to Franz to set up the dunk. I wish we used his passing ability more, honestly.
EDIT: Forgot to mention: His D keeps getting underrated. When heâs not committing a dumb foul he really Ds up a lot of different types of guys well, even holds his ground decently on mismatch switches. Showed flashes of that again today.
Ok. What a night on here. Not sure how Iâm feeling about Florida State but I know one thing: you cannot count these guys out. Canât wait for Sunday!
âFranz will pump you up!â - underrated call by pbp guy on that Franz dunk at about 2:20 left in game
Just looked at the box score. I canât believe LSU finished only 6-21 from downtown. It felt like they never missed in the first half
Plus a NBA 3 after the buzzer.
I mean Dickinson played great. Double double. 12 points on 7 shots. Got double or triple teamed every time he got it and kicked out well, probably best heâs done in a while. I think his only turnovers were the offensive fouls.
