Going pro and staying there
Does Coach B know what he is going to do, or canât you say?
I would infer that to mean that heâs going to keep moving. And I would bet Coach B does know. Thereâs clearly a little game they have to play for formâs sake, which seems perfectly okay. If something crazy should arise they wonât have to spend time recanting.
He will also enter the NBA draft.
Coach B is entering the NBA draft? NO!!! We went through that LAST year with him!
I know, I didnât write the question very well. Does Coach B know what Iggy is going to do? There, fixed it!
Yeah games are being played though not well publicly.
Every one knew Charles was gone long ago yet he makes it official just two days ago.
As we speak, my gut informs that Pierce is visiting and likely taking photos in UM jerseys.
Ya think he hasnât been offered.
UM started to make a run at Beverly, I have to think they were at least talking about offering him immediately given that he had firm offers from big time programs in hand.
Quinones is visiting soon. Getting an offer right.
Hyland is on the radar.
Coach going to Germany next week without an offer?
5 guys getting supposedly serious looks and no publicly available Scholarships?
Go back and read Iggyâs release about entering his name. Look for the stuff that might suggest he is on the fence about staying or leaving. Then realize the situation these players are in. If you want the nba to take you seriously then you have to at least act serious about playing pro ball; announcing you are retaining an agent gets you in the âshould be consideredâ discussion. If you want them to expend funds flying you out for workouts and interviews then you at least have to present committed. Furthermore agents donât want to expend energy and resources shopping guys who are on the fence. And the marginal players need to be in the best shape possible leading up to the draft. That means being somewhere that nba training can be obtained around the clock. Somewhere a player can be stashed for days and weeks on end, in almost every case by an agency. Which immediately makes the player ineligible to return.
I suppose Iggy could decide to stay cause technically the window has not closed under the current rules of engagement. But I think itâs crystal clear where this thing is headed. Put it another way, if Iggy is staying I would think he would say so pronto. This whole notion that this will carry out until the end of May is silly. Especially with programs like UM who need guys to that can play right away.
Yeah games are being played.
It extends to May for everyone. It did for Wagner when he returned and when he left. Same for Burke. It did for Charles last year.
I believe Iggy only goes if he is given a first round guarantee or believes it is there. Maybe he is playing games but I am not sure he leaves if 2nd round.
umbob1, it doesnât seem like Michigan can wait until end of May for his decision. The program has 5 targets and 2 spots to fill. Iggy would have like 2 weeks max to tell Beilein he is back, otherwise the program would get screwed out of a bunch of great prospects.
And on the flip side, I was wondering if it was fair to assume that the lip service both Poole and Iggy were giving to the possibility about coming back was due to trying to not become the âstoryâ on banquet night.
But to your point aboveâŚdoesnât that mean we should read less into the possibility that Iggy in particular leavesâŚthat, in fact, the strong statement he made was more posturing than his actual thoughts?
I guess I see conflicting comments each with reasons why they might be spin and not reality, and so itâs hard to make heads or tails of it.
The reality is that Michigan canât wait until the end of May for a decision. Information on who is on our team has has to be presented to these recruits and the answer idk (or uncertainty isnât going to work.)
What we do know is multiple recruits have mentioned attrition which is tied to Poole.
Franz is going to wait until his season is over in Germany. Pierce to me is an immediate take. I donât think we get Quinones and if we doâŚthen it is going to mean some tough decisions for JB. I think we slow play Hyland for just this reason. Under no scenario do I see us not welcoming Iggy back with open arms.
Pierce and Quinones are deciding around the same time (early May). I imagine it is one or the other.
I think slowplaying Hyland could be dangerous (he burst back on the scene) and others will keep gaining interest.
When Beilein visits Franz, doesnât he have to garner an answer on his future plans?
For as successful as a program as we are, too often worst case scenarios seem to happen in recruiting for us.
I agree Iggy is welcomed back for sure.
Iggy has already received feedback from the NBAâs advisory committee.
He is not considered a first rounder. At this point.
Weâre beginning to get some glimmerings; thanks for the information, gents.
You canât slow play making offers to players who can play. While they may wait on deciding, the offer has to come first.
Quinones announced a May 10 decision date. Any optimism there, last pitch and promised offer happen.
Good: Last visit, best program (basketball and academics) in running
Coach likes quick commit
Maybe bad: Announced Date already (might have mind made up prior to visit)
I agree regarding recruiting but then again, we have been up against some shifty programs. I also donât think JB is open to taking a majority of the elite players if they donât fit into the personality of the program (go to class, good kids, etc). So he has to hit on the few that do fit into what he wants. The results have been good. That said, some of our recent recruits need to take a strong step forward next year.
Looks like Alba Berlinâs season ends on the 12th of May, if I am reading this right:

Personally, I think JB will come back from Germany next week with a strong indication of what is going on with Franz. Personally, I bet it will be a good flight back. That will be next week. It will set the tone for the rest of our recruiting etc. If I am right and Franz is coming, he takes Pooleâs scholarship. I also believe that means he wonât take another recruitâŚjust Pierce. How he plays it with Pierce is another question.
