So he either wants to turn pro immediately or he wants to wait 2 more years after a transfer. I’m sorry that is almost self-contradictory.
Haha, you dont have to convince me that it is. I dont hold the opinion, I am just observing what I believe to be the situation. This is similar to recruiting, it is easy for us to see what should be an easy decision based on our logic, but that doesnt mean it is the reality for the players and how they are feeling.
I very much hope that Poole never wears a college uniform other than Michigan
And really, it’s not true anyway. We missed the tourney that year because Caris and Derrick suffered season-ending injuries and we had to give Andrew Dakich real minutes, in addition to playing true freshmen MAAR and Dawkins for significant minutes.
I don’t see how you say that in ANY way that isn’t fairly powerful to Horford. If Beilein’s repeating it then that’s because it still bugs him.
Yeah, it’s likely a thing that JB is playing off as a joke, but actually bugs him. No reason he’d bring it up multiple times if it didn’t bug him.
I guess what I was trying to say above, though, is that that doesn’t matter. . . to the kid or their family. I would assume John is seeing the matter accurately in 99 cases out of 100. But if your kid’s goal is to play professionally and they’re not thriving, you’re anxiously noting where the exit doors are located. Not trying to assign value to these actions, more to understand them. Jon, for me, was a little self-absorbed. . . not the first.
Floating the idea at mgoblog that Iggy comes back. I wonder how people see potential lineups if he does.
Who floated the idea? And based on what? I’d be surprised if anything is decided before the combine.
I will say this, I didn’t hear one thing in the interview with Iggy that he will definitely stay in the draft. Yes, he wants to be drafted as high as he can be, but, to be perfectly honest, that could mean this year (which he didn’t say) or next year.
I will not speculate on what our lineup will look like next year, but I think we can all agree that it would sure look nice with Iggy in it.
I don’t think anything will be decided before the combine either, BUT, as it relates to Franz, I think we do have time. Now, if we end up signing Pierce, or if we get a commitment from Franz (don’t think we will) BEFORE the combine, that would be telling.
I think it’s pretty straight forward if he comes back:
PG - Simpson - Dave
SG - Brooks
SF - Iggy
PF - Livers - Johns or Wilson
C - Teske - Dejulius
Johns and Wilson fight for backup forward minutes. Any additional 2 guard we add would try to push Dave or Brooks out of the rotation.
Wow Dejulius at center will be a sight to see!
Woops! Meant Castleton, of course.
If Iggy hears that he needs to improve decision making, passing, and playmaking out of PNR, maybe he returns and plays the 2 offensively a ton next year?
Beilein saw X strip Wesson and got some ideas. That, or we’re going back to the 1-3-1 with DDJ running the baseline!
I’d love to see Iggy play more at the 2–something we were teased with early in the season until depth issues nixed that idea.
This is a bit scary because he does need to improve his passing. What if he plays the two and doesn’t?
Mostly kidding here… If Iggy comes back and Poole stays in, I wouldn’t be surprised for Brazdeikis to play the two at all but seeing the floor better will be crucial.
Would we rather have a potentially inept passer in Iggy at the two, or a potentially inept player in Brooks at the two? LOL.
I believe as it stands today, and assuming as almost everyone does, that JP doesn’t return, Bajema will be able to work his way into some minutes at the two as the season progresses. I know that people say he is to slight, needs to get bigger and stronger, and that he won’t be able to guard twos, at least not as a freshman, at this level.
I think he has already gotten bigger and stronger, and that will only increase when he gets to Camp Sanderson. I also believe his quickness and foot speed will increase as a result of Camp Sanderson. I also think Cole is very smart and will, like Duncan Robinson was eventually able to do, use that intelligence and basketball “smarts” to make up for some shortcomings.
Just my thoughts. I know that not everyone, or even, perhaps, very many folks, will agree with me. I’d just say, don’t sleep on the kid. I think he’ll get better and better as the year goes on.
