Where has it been noted that his feedback said he would get drafted?
OK, so itâs premium. I gave up my premium membership too soon! Sadly. Is it Dot or just some random internet poster? I DO pay attention to what Dot says. So, thereâs thatâŚAnd, if in fact it is solid, definitive knowledge that Poole got feedback saying he would be drafted, even if itâs late second round, then I apologize to Reegs if I came off a bit snarky. All this JP discussion and conjecture is driving me âmadâ I guess!
This article showâs JP as not having an agent.
Do any of the people here who know things have any idea if Poole has thought about transferring out if he he doesnât like the news from the NBA guys? Or is it out of college no matter what?
I canât see any scenario where JP would transferâŚnothing to gain.
Well, heâs going to have to sit out a year if he transfers, so he wonât really be replacing any early entry kids at other schools.
I just canât see sitting out a year. If heâs hellbent on leaving Michigan no matter what - which may be the case - then I think he either ends up in the NBA, the D-league, or overseas. I donât think he wants to wait two more years before playing pro basketball.
What LAWolverine said. Will stay pro regardless.
Potentially draft stock at a place he doesnât dislike. Sounds like a no go though.
I find this entire ordeal disappointing. I hope I am proven wrong but I just donât see it right now with JP. He is nowhere near the level of play that will let him stick in the NBA. He will need to work his way through the G league and that is not a certain path. He is a kid who definitely needs to stick it out for another year IMO. He just struggled in the JB system and JB expectations. It will only get tougher on him. DRob was so much better after working for 4 years that he became an NBA player. Poole isnât there after 2 years. I am not sure what others are seeing but I am not seeing a kid who is ready to take this step. I wish him the best no matter what. I would love to see him in the NBA.
I agree umbob1.
The NBA is broadly not impressed with college coaching and player development. You can say theyâre wrong, or say Beilein is an exception, and thatâs fine, but itâs the reality. Most teams are willing to look at the raw lump of clay and determine if they can form it, with full time training, diet, and development.
We can talk all we want about players growth here - NBA clubs believe their programs are superior.
Iâm watching Pistons playoff game. GRIII is a much better player now than at any point in college and is making a great living. He felt he was under utilized at M and also a bit misled.
Poole and GRIII basically had same complaint at M (too much time spent standing in the corner). Itâs a legit complaint. Stu Douglas has a similar complaint about under utilization while at M. Coach Beilein is all about winning and sometimes it is at odds with what best serves a particular players interest.
Personally, I think itâs best for all involved if Poole moves on. I realize I could be completely misreading the situation and may be wrong.
Interestingly, Robinsonâs main flaw at Michigan - extreme passivity on offense - is still his main flaw!
True. Iâm just happy for him heâs carved out a niche. Thereâs still time. Not easy for a college kid to admit his culpability for limited role. I yelled at Stu (through my tv) for 4 years at Michigan to exhibit more belief in his obvious talent
GRIII played a different position than Poole. No comparison. Poole had the ball in his hand a lot and was erratic. When he drove, he was not a strong finisher. He was an inconsistent passer and an inconsistent shooter. Defense? GRIII was more athletic and a better defender. I just donât see the comparison. Saying Poole stood in the corner is just not accurate. Poole had the chance to carry this team and couldnât. GRIII wasnât given the same shot
Poole has the potential to be so much better. Needs more time
When you are a shooter like Poole, you shouldnât have a problem with âGo stand in the cornerâ. The NBA wonât care what he does off the dribble if he canât catch and shoot.
I did not compare their games. I compared their complaint. Legit complaint. Thatâs all. Neither felt it was in their best interest to spend so much time relegated to the corner. You and I can discuss the merits of complaint but they def had the same complaint
His dad mentioned it in 1 tweet. Doesnât change the facts that Poole had the ball in his hand a lot and was on the move a lot. I donât know if Poole complained about that at all. If Poole thinks he spent time in the corner, I would double down on my belief that he is not ready to play at the next level. I never heard him complain about that one time but could have missed it
