NBA Draft Projections & Mock Drafts 2019

Was there a write up for Winston?

I donā€™t think itā€™s super uncommon for NBA draft guys to take into account stuff like EYBL for freshmen. Thereā€™s still talk about how good of a shooter Reddish was in high school.

No write-up for Winston

I guess I sort of get it for freshmen, but still weird to me. He had more than enough attempts this year at Michigan to reassess his 3 PT shooting ability. Itā€™s very possible that he became a better shooter as he worked at it more in college and received better coaching. Iā€™d put more stock into that than numbers from disorganized run and gun EYBL ball.

Winston is ranked #87, which is crazy to me.

Itā€™s just insane to me that Michigan could lose multiple players to early entry in the draft and thereā€™s a legitimate chance they all go undrafted.

Poole has been getting so much flak from Michigan ā€œfansā€ saying heā€™s not good enough or he sucks that it appears he just wants to get away from Michigan. Did you guys see what Pooleā€™s father tweeted on twitter after a fan called Jordan out? Pooleā€™s dad made it sound like he wants him to leave as well. Everyone wants the kid to stay but in turn are just negatively picking him apart and making it seem like they think he sucks. People got to quit acting like these 19, 20 and 21 year olds who make zero money currently arenā€™t invincible to people telling them they arenā€™t good enough. Seems like the fans wanting him to stay may backfire and just push him further out the door. I should add I donā€™t think the fans are THE reason heā€™s leaving, but they sure as hell didnā€™t likely move needle in terms of making him more likely to stay. Especially when fans comment on his social media posts or dm him or tag his parents or whatever else.

Thank you BP, and Voltron because I know you agree with BP, and others, too. Iā€™ve been fighting this battle about fans being too critical of our kids on social media, wellā€¦probably since I first began commenting several years ago. There was a time I felt pretty alone, but there are more supporters on board now. Youā€™ve said it well here, BP. From a long time fan and supporter of kids in general and of our Michigan basketball players in particular, thanks again!

I said this weeks back: ā€œThat Poole just wants to be done with college basketball.ā€

Even if you turn out to be correct, this kind of speculation is irresponsible. Donā€™t say this about one of our players.

I can see it as a reason, but itā€™s not a logical or reasonable one in my mind. No matter where you go, youā€™re going to get people talking about your success or failures on social media. Itā€™s just what happens when youā€™re a public figure. And the people who tend to be most critical are generally Pooleā€™s age or younger. A good example of this is when there was a parade of articles about all the ā€œdeath threatsā€ Blake Oā€™Neill got after the dropped snap. When upon further examination it was 4 people all of which were between the ages of 14 and 16. Itā€™s just how it is. If you transfer to Illinois, youā€™re going to get people saying you suck there too. If you go to the NBA, youā€™re going to have Phoenix Suns fans complain about how much you suck for 82 games as opposed to 37. Iā€™m sure Josh Jacksonā€™s mentions arenā€™t fun.

Idk, I think framing it as a uniquely Michigan or even college basketball problem is disingenuous. Getting shit talked to you online is a part of being a public figure now. Nothingā€™s gonna change it no matter where you go or what you do.

Doesnā€™t help that Poole is in that sweet spot between talented and enigmatic.

Players also need to understand that the majority of the people who tweet or comment critically on social media about them are not representative of the fan base as a whole. Itā€™s like the radio callers for a station like 97.1. You tend to get the most obnoxious ones who like to run their mouths. The rational ones watch silently for the most part. Canā€™t let the obnoxious ones get to you. Have to ignore them and laugh it off.

The gambling degenerate probably found odds to bet on whether JP stays or goes.

Comments by fans wonā€™t influence at all the decision to stay or leave; thatā€™s just a talking point by fansā€¦on message boards. Guy has become a darling among the great majority of UM fans. Regardless Iā€™ve suggested that they avoid social media platforms; too often contributors are trolls, reckless in their sharing of information or both.

Poole got off to a slow start with Beilein last year. And if you recall he saw no time the first couple of games. Things warmed up over the course of the season but I donā€™t sense a warm fuzzy relationship. Something that isnā€™t uncommon in college sports.

One can reference mock drafts or highlite the deficiencies in his game. Fact of the matter is Poole came to UM believing that he would eventually be a pro. Most guys who end up in the nba donā€™t hang around until theyā€™ve perfected their crafts. Only way I see him returning is if the nba evaluators take a dump on him. And know that what some of these mock drafts suggest is inconsistent with what he is hearing from some others.

Call it a gut feeling from an outsider.

Oh and UM has picked up the pace recruiting 2019 prospects. Anyone not appreciating that is tone deaf. They are preparing for attrition.

If you watched a good number of games, Poole and Coach had numerous accentuated conversations. Jordanā€™s body language was often a bit off. I have been worried about it. I truly hope he comes back, but I have seen things that concern me. Just my two cents.

Coach also made an oblique reference to Pooleā€™s decision-making in a recent presser. Something along the lines of ā€¦ if you try something 20 times and it only works twice, maybe you shouldnā€™t do it. Iā€™m sure he gets a lot of flak from the coaches behind the scenes. Hopefully heā€™s mature enough to realize that changing scenery wonā€™t fix what ails him. If anything, it will just get worse.

Thatā€™s interesting. I feel like thereā€™s a good chance that NBA evaluators take a dump on him. First big milestone will be early May. Does he get a draft combine invite? Looking through ESPNā€™s list of top draft prospects, that itself is gonna be tall order and will be a big indicator of his draft stock. Is he gonna get a draft combine invite over guys like Charles, Iggy, Brian Bowen, Ashton Hagans, Tyus Battle, Kris Wilkes, Jalen Lecque, Markus Howard, Cassius Winston or Ethan Happ? Not all of those guys are gonna get combine invites, so itā€™ll be tough sledding.

DOTMAN, who is Michigan currently looking at aside from Lester Q. There was a 247 article saying he wanted to make a decision in a couple of weeks.

This sure doesnā€™t sound like the Poole family isnā€™t tired of Michigan fans at all (sarcasm). It may be a minority, but those minorities in every fan base always seem to have the loudest voice. And every post about him on popular social media pages has lots of people in the comments saying this stuff. People in here get sensitive when one or two people disagree with one another or come back at each other sarcastically, let alone when hundreds or thousands get mad at a player themselves and their families and then verbally attack them. At least when playing professionally, they got money to take care of their families. Pooleā€™s Dad is right regarding most people not understanding either. None of us can probably say we ourselves and our loved ones get messages from fans that are supposed to be in their corner saying they should leave or they suck or whatever. And I imagine weā€™d all react in a similar way or wouldnā€™t feel thoughts similar to these guys. Quit acting like they are impervious to peopleā€™s feelings. Even if itā€™s a few, they are still human. I know for a fact from about as close of knowledge as possible Jordan loves college and loves people, so it wouldnā€™t shock me at all if people that are supposed to be supporting him are actually bashing him bothers him to an extent. You can agree to disagree. Thatā€™s fine. Iā€™m not sure what to think but Iā€™m not judging the kid no matter his reasoning for staying or maybe wanting to leave.

If he leaves I thank him for the mostly good memories and if he stays I look forward to Michigan winning the Natty next year with him leading the charge

Theyā€™ve never relented on Wagner. Beverly is a recent guy who they have increased attention to. I donā€™t know all of the targets or how theyā€™ve ranked them. Tough proceeding though when no one has given a definitive word on their intentions. If there are transfers I expect those to be made public soon now that the season is over.
