I couldn’t believe JB had MAAR sit in the corner for most of the game. That’s criminal.
One shot in the first half and then only 4 in the second. That just can’t happen if we want to win against Iowa.

My thoughts exactly. And although he went 1 for 5, his misses were not as bad as the others’ misses … plus, he needs to get in rhythm to be efficient.
Meanwhile, Walton seems to really struggle beating his man off the dribble (lingering effects of the foot injury?) and Irvin is hunting for his shot at all times, whether advisable or not.
Next year is looking worse game by game. Irvin and Walton aren’t leaders and it’s clear. This team is looking for leadership. It’s kind of sad.
Derek and zach are not good enough to be our go to one two. I really like Derrick, sO it pains me to say that but they just don’t cut it offensively. At least Derrick helps in other ways though. Hustle/d/rebounds. Irvin on the other hand if he’s not hitting shots he shouldn’t be on the floor.
He was 3 for 3 then got pulled for chatman for 5 minutes. Explain that. Makes no sense whatsoever.
Walton and Irvin have a TON of work to do this offseason.
Sly you have claimed many times this team has talent. If Zach and Walton aren’t good enough I ask you who the heck is good enough to be the go to??
MAAR and who???
We have 4 role players and a worthless center. Next year will be the exact same.
We must start praying now the Wagner evolves quickly over the summer.
I think Irving having to guard the four is hurting his offensive game. He is better suited as a three, but we don’t have any good options at the four.
Our centers will be juniors next year. Another summer of conditioning and improvement. Costello wasn’t that good as a sophomore, but started to show improvement as a junior and is very good as a senior.
I’m backing off a bit but I do believe Dawkins maar Irvin Walton donnall Wagner and kam all are good or have potential if used right. I just don’t believe any of them are elite. Our top two guys are not built to be go to players/have no consistency. This is why I clamor for more shots to be spread around so that when those two are cold that our offense doesn’t totAlly go to crap.
I’d like maar to be featured and I’d like Dawkins to step up to the plate offensively like last year. We could look the other way on his d if he’s dropping 12-15a game himself and hitting 2-3 threes a game. I also believe if wAgner had been giving time ( and next year) that he could have been a real offensive threat off the bench. I’ve seen him create his own shot many times this year. Something we could really have used. Feeding him on the block. I believe he would have improved off the ball and on the roll to had they given him a shot. I meAn his fake hand off dunk on abo or whatever his name is on nc st was still the best move I’ve seen any big make all year.
All this being said I’m starting to realize that this teAm just doesn’t have it together and that they won’t get it together, it’s a pipe dream. I do believe Xavier will add a lot and I also believe Ibi and Davis will be good in a few years. I’m hoping teske will as well or at least give us a defensive presence.
As mp has stated and I’m with him that 2017 class is huge. It’s essential we get some gamers and tough kids who can also play. I believe part of our problem is these guys are mentally weak. They are practice players. Probably hit every shot they take when it doesn’t matter and there’s no pressure but turn the lights on in close games and they fold I believe x is a gamer I also like pooled swag. This is why I want young so bad. Besides his skill set he seems like a winner and someone who steps up with the bright lights on. Him Poole and an athletic defensive slasher on the wing and we will be back in business.
I bet Irvin didn’t come to Michigan to play power forward. I feel bad for him. He’s completely over matched trying to guard the other team’s power forward. Not only is that physically draining, it’s also mentally exhausting.
I have no doubt him getting man handled on defense is showing up in his offensive game.
I can agree with that. And when he does start the game hot he gets to go sit down the next 5 minutes. God it’s so frustrating
Hit on a lot of this stuff here.
