We’ve had pretty poor PG’s for most of KBA’s tenure, we turned it over a ton with Katelynn Flaherty as the lead ballhandler AND shot taker, so who knows.
Brown has good vision and passes well, but she doesn’t have a PG handles (she wasn’t a PG until this year, so…). Last year, Rauch was never really in the plan to play really, but injuries forced it. Dilk never really became what she could have.
I try to be positive, but I see little redeeming in the Kampschroeder minutes. Wiggins at least has the handle to play the spot.
I think its worth noting that while our TO rate is towards the bottom (ie, bad) of the conference over the past few years, our assists have been close to the top, and our turnovers forced have outpaced turnover committed every year…it’s a balance. We’ve been 4th-6th in TO margin (and always positive) int he league basically since KBA started making the tournament.

I’m there with you 100%. I am choosing to trust the process for now. She’s still young and was a very highly-rated recruit. What I see with Greta is that she’s just way too sped up. It feels like she has the tools she needs to be a good PG but either isn’t comfortable in that role on this team yet (which would make sense) and/or feels like she’s constantly looking over her shoulder to be subbed out. I hope that with more consistent playing time that might change. Think Eli Brooks. That guy went from everyone thinking he’d transfer and never amount to anything to being a rock on the team everyone was thrilled to have back for one more year.
That said, Ari has really shown some things this year and I think she’ll be a threat to start as long as you can get scoring elsewhere. She can score at the rim but really doesn’t have scoring chops anywhere else and probably won’t ever develop a really consistent shot. That’s going to be a very interesting position battle to watch in the offseason.
How many times did they dribble into the corners and then pick up their dribble? When you do that, it doesn’t matter much what kind of a passer or ball handler you are.
That was interesting because you typically see them try to get the ball to Kiser somewhere just shy of midcourt in the middle of the floor. Getting trapped in the corner just past the timeline is a new thing. You better believe Ohio State – who already gave Michigan everything they could handle with their full-court pressure in the last two meetings – was taking notes.
Curious what you guys think needs to be done to get back on the 4 seed line? Michigan need to win 2 more in BTT? Or would just winning today get us back there?
According to the AP poll yes, but Mich was 16 in the most recent bracket reveal and lost to a bad Wisconsin since then, so they probably fell more than 1 spot to the tournament committee.
Last ESPN bracketology (I’m not sure who the good ones are nor am I aware of anything like BracketMatrix for the women) had them slid to a 5 after that loss.
I don’t think it helps to see them sliding in advanced metrics, either. They’re down to #22 on HerHoopStats. They had been hovering between 12-16 most of the season. They’re down to #24 on both offense and defense.
Yeah, I was really hoping that Penn State’s press would be a good warmup for Michigan to prepare for Ohio State’s pressure but…the performance didn’t really do much to inspire confidence.
BTN producers might want to work on cutting those coach interviews about 2 seconds earlier. The pauses at the end while they stare at the camera are…awkward.
