Baiting Smart was hilarious, but still not the same as actually playing defense
Two of those were just forced two for one shots.
Whatever, Jordan humming Hail to the Victors at the beginning and end of his postgame NBATV interview erases all mistakes.
Thereās such a fine line in fan reaction between āWHY ARE THEY NOT GOING TWO FOR ONEā and āOH MY GOD THAT WAS THE WORST SHOT EVERā.
Hah. That reminds me of a good line from Mark Jackson on the Draymond Game 4 benching. Jackson said of the decision, it worked bc they won.
Great ālineā from Mark (take your process and shove it!), however I canāt really even guess if it is ironic or straight coming from Coach Jackson.
In this case, the opposite ⦠right? Fans see a shot that looks bad and think it is a bad decision when in reality the EV is positive even if it isnāt a āgreat shotā and doesnāt go in because it guarantees a 2-for-1 and gets the team a second shot.
Wasnāt aware. But, obviously, Poole was a lockdown defender last night.
Itās really hard to describe 14 points on 8 shots (in 14 minutes) from a player whose role has been reduced to āheat off the benchā as bad. He needs to put up enough points to overcome the volume they hemorrhage when heās on the floor. Last night, he accomplished that.
Yeah I thought it was a pretty good game from him. He hit a couple huge shots and only had a couple disaster minutes of defense.
He was bad in the first half, but they made their run in the 2nd with Curry on the bench. Gave them scoring bunch and pulled a Marcus Smart on Marcus Smart.
To be fair - I think Smart DID hit himā¦he just embellished it from ācontactā to āshot with a high caliber rifleā.
Smart is really smart, but his flopping annoys me. He paid a fair price for it last night, however, especially when Thomson touched him a bit, and he went sliding backwards for 10 meters. Even Clay was surprised on how can anybody self propel backwards that much. He almost forgot to take the trifecta, while he was calculating a possible distance from Newtonās law of motion at no force. Beats all physics laws.
Letās not neglect that Stauskas was a +6 for the game. Not everyone can do that in 1 minute of play and no other stats.
His very presence inspired the deep bench to a prodigious run. When Aaron Nesmith becomes a 40 minute a game starter, Udoka needs to remember that Nik is his rabbitās foot.
Personally I donāt think Smart is a particularly egregious flopper. Used to be, but now heās no more or less floppy than most.
Feels like a spot where some of those guys are going to be released by Houston. Burke probably a prime candidate
Yeah for sure. Probably all of them?
Just looked and he has a player option for 3.5 million so good for him. Heās at least guaranteed that money even if he gets released. Not sure heāll get another nba contract after that tho.
Yeah I think all
Itās Wood for the pick, the others just balance salary.
Iād think Burke is looking at Europe or retirement. Heās āonlyā made $22 mil, which is obviously great but not what Iād call life-changing, given his reputation is one that suggests he could have squandered a decent amount of it already. Iād think heās still going to try to make money.
Finish his degree so we can retire his number?
