Do the Warriors have the money to pay up for Jordan Poole or can he please become a Detroit Piston
Its funny because 18 months ago there were Pistonsā fans clamoring to try and acquire Caris to build around (not necessarily on this board). Poole is so fun to watch, though!
NBA teams have no limit regarding what they can spend to retain their own players, and the Warriors seem willing to not put a cap on it. Also, Wiggins drops off their cap after next season (even if they retain him, heād get a solid pay cut), so that could factor in their willingness.
My guess is that the Warriors want to bring along enough young guys to bolster their older (and still productive) core to transition to the next era - to my eye, Poole and Kuminga are the centerpieces of that initiative.
They do and Lacob is very willing to pay luxury tax to keep the players. Wiggins has one year left after this season so they can let him walk to help pay for Pooleās extension. Plus Kuminga is the future starting PF.
Warriors are set up well for a natural transition from Steph/Klay/Dray to Poole/Moody/Kuminga/Wiseman.
Would work if Wiseman wasnāt garbage
i thought i appreciated him when he was here, but watching this video, i didnāt appreciate him nearly enough.
For people more familiar with recruiting history than I am: if Beilein hadnāt brought Jordan Poole to Michigan, where would he have played college ball? I know he wasnāt an unranked, unheralded recruit, but I donāt get the impression we were fighting off the blue bloods for him.
Wisconsin was his first offer and he camped with them
Pretty sure they never offered. Highly doubt he would have gone there either since he would not have wanted to be part of their offense.
Wisconsin is pretty bad at getting the top tier of in-state kids.
Marquette was the main competition
I can actually confirm this. When I was a student I had a mutual friend of Pooleās who grew up a Wisconsin fan. This topic was brought up once and Poole told him something like āCāmon, do you really think Iād want to play in that system?ā It was basically a non-starter for him
lma o can you imagine Poole at Wisconsin? Iām not sure the kid would have ever made it out of there in one piece, he would have wanted to self-harm.
Lost out on Tyler Herro and Jordan Poole lol
I think herro was once committed
I think that was before he blew up that his recruitment has picked up big time.
Yes it was.
My friends that root for Wisconsin still whine about that.
Plus we won the BTT. And there is a mysterious law of basketball that prevents Michigan from winning the Big Ten and going to the FF in the same year.
Should we make this a NBA/WNBA thread? It seems like including Naz posts here might be better than a new thread.
If so, Naz made Atlantaās roster (some players drafted before her didnāt) and played somewhere between 10-15 minutes in her debut. She only got one shot up. It was in traffic, and was blocked. Something odd to see was that she was set up on the perimeter a fair bit. She did have at least one steal and seemed to look pretty comfortable out there. The Dream also got the win.
Their second game of the season is tonight.
