I don’t really buy the Simpson thing hampering Poole that much. He had opportunities that year behind just being Caleb Houstan in the corner. I know he and Beilein didn’t always see eye to eye, but they needed Poole to shoot and score that year and he just was very inconsistent. Not to mention that he was a bad defender.
Kudos to him for working hard to make it in the NBA. There were a lot of times that things could have gone differently for him but it is awesome to see how it worked out
Just looked at Poole’s contract and the age of Steph, Klay and Draymond, I think GSW is going to try to get him the bag without really maxing it out. GSW has stumbled upon the potential smooth transition plan from Steph era to the young Warriors by sucking the last few seasons by virtue of Steph’s, Dray’s and Klay’s injuries.
EDIT: Just looked up Poole’s contract situation. He’s eligible for the rookie extension of 5 years and $184 million so I’m guessing that they’re going to offer him close to it after this season. Wiggins have one year left in his contract and he’s likely going to walk after it with Kuminga as his natural replacement.
He’s having a better season than last season and he didn’t have Murray and MPJ for pretty much all season long. That’s part of the reason why I think he’ll win the MVP.
I guess Duncan didn’t was Poole getting all of the attention. Going 8-9 from three is crazy! If Houstan comes back we really need Duncan working with him this summer.
Our 2018 team was viewed as an overachieving team that played above its talent but the truth is that was a super talented squad. Really a shame and failure to not get at least one b1g regular season title between Walton’s last year, 2018 and 2019.
