Michigan Players in the NBA

Poole stan here. Been on a great streak lately as DMB43 shared yesterday. Kerr has been experimenting with playing Poole, Klay, and Curry at the same time, an approach Curry referred to as a “pick your poison” situation the defense is faced with. Last night Bucks doubled Curry all night and Poole and Klay each had 30 or more. Here’s some more insight into Kerr’s thoughts on the approach. Addresses Poole in particular at 1:23. Keys in on improved offensive decision making and especially his defense.

Kerr is great, I could listen to him talk all day. His comments at 7:00 are super cool, “don’t settle for 6th man of the year, go be an all star.”

Same! And yeah does start talking about Poole again at 7:00 on…

Livers being healthy is huge for the Pistons. He gives them spacing at PF that the Pistons lacked.

Marcus Morris used his height and size advantage and got a few buckets on Isaiah, but the effort was there.

Yeah, Zay is kind of short for a PF and isn’t athletic enough to play SF but as a pure shooter at PF, he’ll be fine. He can shoot which is his key skill for the NBA.

Agree…feels like if his shooting translates then he can carve out a long career off the bench as a combo forward that shoots and plays smart (if not necessarily great) defense.

As a 6’6" shooter, you kind of wish he had the handle and quickness to be a SG. However, the shooting and defensive effort (that we’ve seen thus far) should give him a spot in the league for a while, if he can keep it up.

Livers with 16-6-2 on 6/7 from the field and 4/5 from 3

Having him on the Pistons makes me so happy

Totally! What a great story for showing you don’t just have to be a 1 and done to play in the league!

Hey, despite the impending doom of Thursday’s game without Jones, at least Livers got his. That makes me happy.

Great insight from Duncan in this video about his run to the championship game in 2018. Also tells a funny story about Jordan Poole the night before the UNC game earlier that year. Worth the watch.

Was one of the only Michigan guys making an impact in the NBA for a while. One of the bridges between the Fisher and Beilein eras.

He was an Ellerbe recruit actually. But Juwan himself played long enough to bridge the Fisher and Beilein eras.

Meant it more as the only player from Michigan between the Fisher and Beilein eras to make a difference in the NBA. Only four Michigan players drafted during Ellerbe and Amaker tenures

Jamal Crawford the Forgotten, the Star Trek Voyager of Michigan Basketball.
