He played 18 minutes a game for Dallas, shot .463, and averaged 9.7 a game.
you almost sound like that makes you happy
It doesnāt! But it should be fine to point out that Burke being non-rostered isnāt a case of stupid NBA people but recognition of the fact heās been a fringe guy for awhile. (And Iām guessing heāll get picked up by someone - as I said heād be the second best PG in Minnesota)
And DNP-CDād 5 of 30 games he was there.
You can find the 42 point game or the 30 game stretch you want - over five years, coaches have decided not to play him in sum about 40% of the time heās available.
You can say he scored 40 once.
You can say the absolute worst franchise in basketball (Knicks) have him run
But a guy who spends 40 % of a half decade getting DNPs (across some abhorrent teams) is almost by definition not a rotation player - because heās plainly not in a rotation.
Burke was a great Wolverine and I take no joy that heās not a good pro - he gave me lots of joy as a Wolverine. But not every Michigan alum succeeds and this stubborn effort to cherry-pick and thin-slice his career to make him something heās not is crazy.
The numbers donāt match your argument at all.
40% of the games would mean he played 50 games a year. Thatās only been true this year. Iām not sure you have followed his career that closely. Two year ago is when he spent a lot of time in the G-league working on his game. When he came back up that year, he was really good. And played every game.
His offense numbers have been far different the past three seasons. Defense? I agree. His main flaw. But again, his past few years have been way different than the first few in Utah.
Not exactly sure if this is the place to put it but Juwan is on NBA TV in a game from 1996 vs. the Heat. Juwan had 20 points and 6 assists according to the box score I just found. Alonzo gets 50, which is why they are showing the game.
57
36
58
A max of 50 this year
I did the math
Itās one game over exactly 50 per season.
Iād say thatās pretty damn close
Youāre leaving out 76, 68 and 64 in his first three years. And again, two years ago with the Knicks, he didnāt get called up until January. At that point he played in 36/40 games, even started 7 games. You canāt count that as 36/82, that would be a completely disingenuous argument.
Moreover, the whole thread started as a comparison between Burke and Walton. Go look at Waltonās stats and tell me how thereās even a comparison? The Clippers have been decimated by injuries all and heās played in 23 games averaging 9.7 minutes a game.
How now brown cow
Donāt talk shit about my boy!
Yes when Burke was a lottery pick he played a lot. In the last four years he has been a fringe rotational piece, which is exactly what I have been saying for a freakin day at this point. Thirty years ago Michael Jordan was an all-star, it doesnāt mean he is in 2020.
I never said Walton was better - I said Walton, at less than half the price and a few years younger MAY be a more appealing piece.
Ok?
Fair enough, I think weāve beaten this to death. I think he could be a solid backup PG for a contender, but weāll see if someone signs him.
Poole just scored 16 fourth quarter points against the Lakers. Warriors lost by 5, but probably one of Pooleās best offensive games. And yes, I watch too much basketball.
Caris scored 37 tonight for the Nets, including 6-7 on threes.
I think JP will play better with D Russell moving on to the Timberwolves. The games I saw, (not many) DR was focused on getting his. Seldom did he care about getting the ball to JPā¦when yes, JP was all alone in THE CORNER!
The highlights
Brazdeikis has clearly shown he can whip up on G-League. Given how terrible the Knicks are and how pointless the rest of their season is, Iād think they at least be curious to see him against NBA competition. Maybe Morris leaving will help.
MAAR being in a couple of these clips makes me wonder if his broken foot prior to draft preparation really hurt him.
