Michigan Softball won their opening game in the NCAA’s, 2-1. It was a nail-biter, complete with a dropped 3rd strike, and throw to 1B that hit the runner in the back to give South Dakota State two runners on with two outs in the top of the 7th. I’m not sure if the previous pitch had anything to do with it, but Hannah Carson was hit with a bat on her glove-hand forearm. That may have kept her from making the squeeze on Storako’s would-be game-ending pitch.
Meghan Beaubien came in to get the final out on another K.
Michigan will likely face 16-seed (and host) UCF tomorrow morning. UCF is currently up 5-0 in the 4th inning vs. Villanova.
Baseball plays at 6 EST vs the winner of Penn St./Iowa who are playing now. A win today puts us in tomorrow’s final and a loss would result in a rematch tomorrow before the final.
3-2 Iowa top of the seventh. Michigan scored two in the bottom of the 6th to get within striking distance. Michigan goes to the championship game against the winner of Rutgers vs Indiana, if they can pull this out.
