Can’t blame Bakich. Significant pay increase plus a chance to compete for CWS regularly. Michigan can’t match it.
No it wasn’t, Michigan is widely considered one of the best jobs in the b1g. Bakich had good success here but his teams also underachieved for the most part in the conference. A fetter or a schnaebel would have similar success imo.
I can see people wanting Chris Fetter but that seems extremely doubtful. He’s probably making with the Tigers or close to what Bakich was making. He’s on the fast track to a larger MLB job regardless of how poop the Tigers are.
MLB actually pays their coaches very little for the most part. There’s many college coaches(assistants and hcs) that make more than mlb ones.
And the Big 10 (or any northern league) is second class.
Yeah but Michigan is still considered a top 25ish job. The thing is Bakich did not dominate the b1g either and he should of because during his tenure he consistently had the most talent(which he does deserve props for getting).
I mean, there was 1 team in the nation north of the Mason-Dixon line that was in the top 50 of the RPI (and it wasn’t Michigan).

They’re an equivalent to the American Athletic Conference in football if we’re comparing conference as a reference.
Michigan is not a top 25 job. West Coast and Southern schools are far more attractive than B1G school. That’s the reality.
