I agree, but being an optimist, maybe the staff was getting too many questions about Bacari’s tweet and what it implied. Maybe Bacari figured deleting the tweet and unfollowing Brown was the best way to get the questions to stop coming?

Inclined to agree with your interpretation – if Bacari actually unfollowed him. I mean the last thing JB tweeted was some Vin Diesel reference like weeks ago, so why delete him now? It’s not like he called BS on one of Bacari’s inspirational quotes or anything. Unfortunate development.

  1. This Matt Jones thing is absurd. Guy was leaking DM’s predicting the commitments and he’s been proven to be lost in recruiting. If we’re going to take the Matt Jones seal of approval–this year you’re batting about 10% in recruiting accuracy.

  4. If that’s case–wouldn’t UM push hard for Kenny Williams? I mean he had a visit scheduled for May 18 and canceled and is down to UVA (heavy favorite) over UNC. Michigan was heavy favorite for Williams when he got released from VCU.

Be aware that Brown is likely to break commitment via Bleacher Report–he already did his “final list announcement” via them and they set precedent by breaking Iman Marshall (USC football signee) commitment via a 2 min plus video despite fact he was supposed to announce on ESPNU on Signing Day.

As a huge CBB fan and friends with UK fans and enjoy talking hoops with this board, I’ve got to say I’ll believe it when it happens. Too many odd things in this class–but hope for my UK friends it happens. Makes complete sense basketball wise, but as we all know/have repeatedly seen–when does recruiting make sense?

The Webb thing is the only one that concerns me. And it concerns me verily. That said, hopefully it is simply a flair for the dramatic from the family…wanting to slow down the hype train since consensus is/was that Michigan leads.

But he follows a bunch of other recruits who went elsewhere. Why stop following Jaylen just because he goes to UK?

Bacari is an emotional guy. Likely very upset about missing out on Brown considering they were so close.

Either way, if we were in it even slightly, it makes 0% sense to unfollow him. It could in no way be positive.

Only possible way I could see it was if Jaylen asked him to unfollow him to intentionally create doubt. Which I see as unlikely. Lol

FWIW Bozich switched his pick back to UK (about his 20th time switching at this point), but UM did get a new CB this morning. CB is a joke in my opinion

Perhaps compliance suggested out an abundance of caution to Bacari he shouldn’t be tweeting about unsigned recruits, even without names? This narrative that Brown silently committed (despite being so close to the vest for so long and without any pressing need to), the staff told Williams to cancel his trip (despite no pressing need since the trip wasn’t for a couple weeks), then Brown retracted and (the relentlessly positive) Bacari deleted the tweet out of pique seems unlikely on a number of levels. I wouldn’t get too high or low on any of these developments. Status seems the same – UM seems to be right in it, but UK in particular has been quite the recruiting force, and we’ll find out pretty soon, but not today or tomorrow.
