Jaylen Brown - Will Likely Use OV for UM

Good call Dylan…are we really debating the ‘nerd to cool’ quotient of UM? Good lord.

I get so tired of every thread returning to the same type of topic.

I HATE the tight shorts/jersey look…Frankie Hughes looks ridiculous in those hiphuggers when he plays.

the one thing that um has going for it is his family in the area That to me is a big factor

It does seem like a big advantage but if he goes to Kentucky, he’ll be playing in the south which I would think would be cheaper and easier for his immediate family to view games.

Who knows. hopefully he wants to play close to grandma!

Agree. Let’s move on from this one… If you want to have the talk again just go read page 18 or something of this thread.

Re: fashion, I never thought I’d see the day that short shorts came back into style, but everything’s cyclical, I guess. However I suspect that without the leggings, he’s not wearing those Stockton shorts.

The shorts plus the flat-top do: maybe he’s going to pick mid-80s Georgetown, unless Tarkanian can snag him.

Rhetorical question (or inbox me if you’d like to respond) for everyone - why do people get so tired of the ‘culture’ debate, but not tired of discussing Sauce Castillo? Jaylen Brown rumors? Seems strange to me

I don’t think we are ever going to see the super short shorts of the 70s and 80s, but it shouldn’t be too much of a surprise that jerseys are getting tighter and shorts are getting shorter. Urban culture, in particular Hip hop culture, had a large impact on the trend towards baggy uniforms. Now, it’s not unusual to see a prominent hip hop artist wearing skinny jeans. Plus, more form-fitting uniforms are more functional. Who wants to play basketball in oversized, drapey clothes?

I noticed for the first time this year a lot of college players rolling their shorts at the waist. Several prominent high school players are sporting the short shorts, as well. Ingram (who looks like a marathoner with his skinny legs), Briscoe, Brown, and at least one or two others.

Because the culture debate is a subjective argument that always ends the exact same way on this board: a slur of ad hominems thrown out by some poster who gets too invested in it. With Jaylen Brown we’re all on the same side: get him and we’ll be really good.

That’s just my opinion, Matt

love J Brown’s old school vibe, flat top, high shorts, yogie once a week.

Both Lexington and Chapel Hill about 5 hours from Atlanta. If staying close matters. Though if thats your determining criteria why not play in the ACC?

agreed, culture conversations take a personal feeling really quick, since I would assume that anyone posting here has some kind of vested interest in UM

Matt, Ii think you’re totally off anyway. There are plenty of guys we recruited who were not soft. Manny? And make no mistake about it, JB had to re-recruit him. Darius Morris? Anyway who tells K’len Lucas to “get the f*ck off my court” is not a nerd in my book. Novak? That kid was all grit. Jordan Morgan? He was hardly soft. McGary? Burke? Hardaway? Nik? Even Bielfeldt was a pretty physical player who could mix it up.

The only guys who I think were passive, and I guess “soft” in your book, were Stu, Glenn, Vogrich, Caris, Donnal, and Chatman (and the latter two have three years to get tougher and more aggressive). Oh, and of course, Smote - he was super soft. No question about that. But he also only lasted two years in the program.

To me, there’s a clear difference between being “soft” and playing undersized because we want to achieve a perceived strategical advantage of playing four in, one out.

Who needs drake we got big sean

Big Sean’s too soft.

Big Sean's too soft.

Drake is the definition of soft, but Big Sean isn’t far behind. Hell, contemporary hip hop in general is soft for the most part.

Would hate to imagine this place if the school student section posted something like this about Beilein on Twitter

@khelm9 one thing JB values a lot is head coaches coming to his games during the season. Don't think Self came to any.

Though didn’t Brown also say something like he doesn’t need to develop relationships with coaches?

He said he didn’t want to develop a relationship until after he commits to a program, that’s correct.

Difference between talking to them on the phone and them watching you I guess, but I have a hard time believing that Self didn’t go to any of his games at Wheeler.

So Kenny Williams coming out and saying he isn’t considering Michigan a few days after setting up his visit combined with Bacari’s tweet a few minutes ago had got to be good news? Right?
