Jaylen Brown - Will Likely Use OV for UM

Mchem- Something is going awry when you quote, and you’re the main culprit on this thread. My advice would just be to edit it if you see that it’s wrong, and put the at the end of what he was saying.

There is a a tech issue as it has happened to me before, and I have noticed others have the issue. It isn’t that big of a deal. I can make sense of it.I don’t see a big enough deal, that anyone needs an IT lecture.

See case in point. Tech issue.

In an effort to maintain consistency in tracking the crystal ball, kansas writer broke the string of Michigan picks, but apparently has admitted he’s picking KU just to pick KU. Two UK people changed their picks to UK from UM.

Bottom line for me - it appears that UM/UK are the constants. Anything other than that, appears to be nothing more then speculation. In the end I expect Brown will pick UK, but I do think we are being seriously considered, so nothing would shock me. Refuse to get my hopes up.

Until Jaylen Brown says otherwise, I will believe he’s going to Kentucky.

…sigh…

I must say that regardless of how it shakes out, I’d be lying if I said when the first reports of Jaylen Brown’s interest in UM that I thought we could make it to (likely) his final/top 2.

Webb hinting at decision within a week

@Molis95 He said that JB may have his decision announced by next week so they could talk about it on the roundtable

Not sure what he’s waiting for at this point… All eyes are on him, just time to make a choice.

My gut feeling from all the quotes and articles that we’ve gotten on Brown tells me that it’s either us or Kentucky.

And Bozich from ITH now picked UK as well.

And a short update trying to outline some of the reasoning going into the CB run for Michigan initially

Count me among the group that doesn’t feel too confident that Brown is coming to UM…CB picks based on Adidas don’t hold much weight with me.

In fairness, Bozich has a vested interest in us not getting Brown. I know IU has a historical rivalry with UK but Big Ten dominance more important.

Gotta speak the lingo.

I think UK’s dominance in recruiting has been enough to make everyone just assume it’s gonna be a commit for them without any other logical reasoning other than their track record with other five stars. This appears to be the case once again. For that reason it’s been a frustrating scenario to follow and will be until he finally commits. For all of our sanity maybe we should brush this under the rug until he announces or more concrete logic arises at the very least.

That’s the thing about all of this optimism and/or consternation - nobody really knows anything because Jaylen’s camp is quiet. The source of optimism for UM is allegedly the Adidas thing, which is flimsy as hell… If that were a dealbreaker, Jaylen wouldn’t be considering UK or UNC at all - why waste the time? Conversely, the source for optimism for UK comes down to their track record with 5-stars, which is hardly ironclad.

Bottom line: nobody knows what Jaylen’s gonna do and anyone claiming to know differently is doing so on the basis of intuition rather than hard evidence. The crystal ball thing only exacerbates the illusion that anyone knows anything.

Daniels, Brian Snow, and Webb all seem to think it’s down to UK and UM.

the optimism is around the kid’s stated criteria, which wholeistically points to UM. I don’t think Adidas is the sole hope for optimism. agree no one knows much.

my fear is less about not having jaylen to have a good team, but more of the recruiting momentum. here we are on a guy JB never really goes after, last top guy to decide, with perception among masses that we’re that team (i.e. people reading crystal balls/headlines) and in jaylen’s criteria, all the right reasons to come play here… to lose is just another mark of being pretenders for big time recruits (even if we get Kenny Williams).

the one thing that um has going for it is his family in the area That to me is a big factor
