Isaiah Livers declares for 2020 NBA Draft

People keep discussing Livers guarding threes, but I think we’ve seen that while it’s something he’s going to have to do some, it’s generally more a function of having more depth behind him at the 4 than whoever plays the 3 (as was the case last year), or simply not having a bench forcing him into backing up the whole front court (the prior year’s 6 man rotation).

He’s the best option there sometimes - it doesn’t mean he’s ideal.

In other words - if Johns were three-sized and Nuñez four-sized we’d probably not be seeing Livers play the three.

Hopefully we can get dates for the combine and withdraw deadlines soon, but at least has to be before October 15th right?

Sometime in September I’d imagine. Which now that I think about it doesn’t really work for the NCAA since the school year will have started

Some schools are starting in August to compensate for no fall break and finishing before December. You’d think NCAA would need to set a deadline before schools start. The timing of this is very tricky because you also should be giving the kids an opportunity for real feedback in a combine setting before they have to decide.

You would think it would have to be by Aug 1 and then that would be tough on schools with players staying in to replace with more than a walk on.

This seems like the ‘obvious’ solution to me but is more likely impossible than not.

I wonder if combine invites will get a 2-3 week stay in Disney in order to quarantine and then do the combine.

In theory, one of the prospects could enroll in classes in the Fall, start the semester and then opt to either remain in the draft or return to college hoops. It would make it difficult for coaches balancing scholarship slots, but would allow a student-athlete the most possible time to get NBA feedback before making a decision regarding college eligibility?

I had a hazy inkling of this sort, too. All the teams would be gathered, could do limited workouts in one spot.
