Iffff we were to look for a coach who would be realistic targets?

Would prefer Yak to Smart. Bummer about Donovan if true. Serious bummer.

do not count billy donovan out… everything is speculation. No one really knows

There isn’t a person who really ā€œmattersā€ pushing Fife.

With the public platform immediately available to folks, and the willingness of readers to run with stuff, it’s getting almost impossible to manage truth from fiction.

I find myself putting more patently false information to bed than anything else.

If we hire Shaka I’m hoping he keeps his doppelganger Saddi Washington

Everything is not speculation.

Donovan is not interested.

Hey, thanks for the updates around the program. Not to put you on the spot but do you hear the Shaka being a viable candidate chatter gaining traction? Your take if so?

Sounds like it’s Shaka or Juwan…

To me, I’d rank

Juwan > Yaklich > Shaka

But it sounds like it’s gonna be Shaka.

the mindset for me shifting (to where it should have always been) that we need to find someone hungry, looking to use michigan as a platform/proving ground.

all the big fish, marshall have nothing to prove or really gain unless we offered ridiculous salary.

at this point people like howard, yak, prohm, smart (rise from mediocrity) feel like people that could gain from being in position at michigan. michigan now needs to play the which imperfect candidate can you live with game

FWIW, since his name seems to be picking up steam, I am not a fan of Shaka’s offensive system.

If you have the opportunity to hire a coach who’s about to be fired at a worse job, you have to do it.

So I just learned Shaka has only had his 5 star point guard for 12 games over the last two seasons? What do we think Michigan’s record over the last two years would have been if we only had Simpson for 12 games total?

I’m on the fence right now for how I feel about Smart as a candidate, but I think hiring a guy like him would help up keep the recruits we currently have committed.

Thanks for passing on the news you are hearing. I’m ok if you don’t tamp down the egregiously bad rumors. The stuff you do post negates a lot of false rumors by default.

What’s the idea that Yak would be better than Shaka? Just because he’s an unknown basically, whereas people think they have Shaka pegged?

yep chalk it up as the classic back up quarter back is better than the starter syndrome

Honestly he’s been gone since 10 games into last year - he has leukemia and tried to come back this year and played 4 minutes total in three games.

That he’s been so bad at roster construction to me is a big red flag. His Texas teams are dreadful at shooting the ball. For a team that was good on offense but was missing the leap to great because of poor outside shooting, the thought of bringing in Smart doesn’t make me feel very good.

Jalen Wilson has decommited

Man I am so not emotionally prepared for a 15-15 season next year

Yaklich is better defensive coach than Shaka and we know for a fact that Shaka is mediocre as a whole. Yaklich still has unknown upside particularly since he appears to be a strong recruiter.

I take the unknown upside over the known mediocrity.

The fact that Jalen decommited leads me to the conclusion Yak is going to be in Cleveland next year with JB. If Jalen thought Yak was going to stay he would have stayed.
