that’s because I’m a lockdown defender
That was one of the plays I caught while dipping into the other room. We are failing so thoroughly at the “complete basic passes” challenge.
Man no rest for Eli in a game like this is insane. This is one of the worst teams we play all year and he should’ve been able to out in his 25 minutes in a blowout and get a nice rest.
He might set a record for minutes played this year if this keeps up.
Johns in TWill in 27 minutes combined:
7 points, 2-3 from the floor, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, 3 turnovers
Diabate in 26 minutes:
14 points, 6-7 from the floor, 7 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 turnovers
God forbid we get to March, Eli is gonna have 10,000 minutes logged and be asked to make every single crunchtime play.
Thanks for this. Basically gonna have to ride Moussa as much as we can. He’ll have to go all 40 at the 4 and backup 5 basically.
Jones in 25 minutes:
0 points, 0-0 from the floor, 1 assist, 5 turnovers
Collins in 15 minutes:
6 points, 2-2 from the floor, 4 assists, 1 turnover
Nunez in 3 minutes:
0 points, 0-1 from the floor, 1 foul, 0 other stats recorded
Bufkin in 0 minutes:
0 points, 0-0 from the floor, 0 fouls, 0 other stats recorded
Have to be careful questioning player minutes on a single game basis. You don’t always know what the coaches know or what they are trying to accomplish. Maybe someone is sick or missed practice (Bufkin? Jackson?) or maybe he wants to see if a player can play through their mistakes or turn things around in-game. It may not always be as simple as who is playing well and who isn’t, especially early in the year.
I’m questioning player minutes on a 5 game sample size where this team has gone from expected national contender to “one possession game at home against tarleton state” in a matter of weeks.
Nunez playing over Bufkin is happening every game, and it should never.
The intention to play Jones and Brooks both damn near 40 minutes (unless Jones gets in foul trouble) is pretty clear, and Jones should never.
Late to thread and aside from everything else, Juwan’s baffling line up decisions nearly costs the game, so that’s cool…
Ok so a few days ago I wrote about why Jones makes the most sense for this team and should be the option at pg, but since he finally got to play the whole 2nd half and we got to see him in extended minutes, I think I am probably gonna change my tune. If tonight is really indicative of how he will play (I mean could’ve been a really off night for him) then I think Frankie is the best choice for this team.
We are gonna have spacing issues no matter what I think. At least Frankie showed tonight against what should’ve been an overrated opponent the ability to move the ball and find the scorers and put the ball in the hoop when he had to. Jones did basically none of that in the 20 minutes he got in the 2nd half.
My thought is that now Juwan has seen him in a whole half, he has enough data to go off of and will adjust his lineup approach.
Well you figured it out……maybe Juwan will also. Jones can not lead this team. As I said before, he’s out of his league
To be clear, I was directing my comment to the fan base in general, not you specifically.
I was at the game tonight and got home a little while ago. Haven’t read the 495 posts, but am guessing nobody mentioned DeVante having 0 shots and 1 assist for the game. Crazy right?!
Still 6th in Kenpom.
A lot of ref anger from my location. People mad they weren’t calling any fouls as Tarleton would trap and be smacking arms trying to create turnovers. No real moaning about Michigan’s play that I could hear.
Stop shot-faking and let it fly!
Only the bench student section existing plus the game itself made for one of the deadest sounding 10,000* attendance games I can recall. General feeling was like “can we get this over with so I can go home,” at least in my section. I’m sure the holiday had something to do with that (happy thanksgiving everyone, by the way!)
Loudest it got was booing the bizarre Houstan layup ref-stop or numerous half hearted beat Ohio chants that I understand, but still wish wouldn’t happen at basketball games.
