Not failure to run the right plays, failure of the players being in the right spots. I’m not saying he would have fixed it. Arizona outplayed them in way too many areas. But is Jones spacing the floor with his shot either? Not noticeably to me.
Do we have any idea when Zeb might return?
I think this is why Juwan is comfortable taking Frankie and Dug (and even Zeb) in consecutive classes. He’d like to have his guy running the show from now on…Up-transfer PGs was his only choice post Simpson, but its not what Juwan intended when envisioning his ideal basketball team.
Frankie led the team in assists tonight in only 15 minutes. Jones had 1 ast in 25, to 5 TO
Frankie has now played 35 total minutes this season: 9 pts, 8 reb, 8 ast, 5 TO, 3 fouls
I’m partial to Brandon Johns but this type of sloppiness can’t come from a senior player. I understand if it’s Diabate passing it out of bounds because he doesn’t know the play but this shouldn’t be acceptable. Both Brandon and Jones are racking up some real lowlights.
Playmaking wings are high level recruits. We tried to get a lot of them and missed. On this team here we only have 1 energy 4 on the roster recruited by Juwan (Terrence)
Yeah I think taking one this year was the only responsible move, no doubt. But Mike Smith was the absolute best case scenario. Most up transfer guards aren’t remotely that good.
Vet player:
Run whole playbook and few really bad mistakes
Young player:
Run smaller playbook and some dumb mistakes
Often, despite teh handicap, playing the young guy still results in better overall results but as I said a ton of coaches still subscribe to the play the vet. Also one of the great myths a lot of coaches often say is if it’s a tie or close the minutes go to the young guy(because of upside) when it’s almost always the opposite.
I’m not arguing Jones should play. I’m saying Collins is going to face bad spacing every minute he plays due to who he is, and the roster we possess, so writing off his performance to “well the spacing was bad”…it’s gonna be bad.
Jones has, in his career, made threes. He has made a large clip of the few ones he’s taken this year.
There just seems to be no real point in playing Devante right now. He’s not doing anything positive and he’s there for 1 year. Play Frankie and Zeb when he comes back and just let them take their lumps. They’ll be back next year at least
Jace also fits that description since he’s taking a scholarship. I am not asking for an nba level type, I am saying a maar type or a really good shooter. Those types of guys are out there in abundance for a program like um with a recruiter like juwan.
Theoretically Davante has eligibility next year
Please, don’t.
If he tries to come back they should pull his scholarship
Not trying to write off his performance so much as I’m saying the issues against Arizona were bigger than one guy was going to fix regardless
The thing about Mike Smith was that he completely changed his game for the betterment of his new team. He bought in hard.
Just seemed well seasoned and blessed with leadership.
I’m not sure what Devante has to offer going forward. I’m not sure he could beat Boutros off the dribble consistently.
Yeah, that was particularly brutal. He literally passed the ball to Caleb’s ankles. How does that happen?
What do you mean, we? Have you got a mouse in your pocket?
The royal we, dude.
