Game 31: Michigan at Maryland Open Thread

Honestly, though, best game of Nunez’s season.

I have my concerns about this team going forward, but tbh, this is fully what I expected today. Mich had to play their A+ game to win against a Pins team with ALOT to play for…but we’re getting the bad, flat, Mich game that I figured on, this was not an optimal situation, especially against a team with so much to play for today.

You know the script now…Teske will pick up 2 early fouls before the first media time out on stupid hedges or something like that and we will wind up with Teske foul trouble after not having him on the court for almost half of the first period

I get that he’s a 40% three point shooter but how many of those attempts are off the dribble? Not to mention he was falling forward as he shot it. Sometimes you just have to tip your cap.

Franz played pretty well I thought.

This was the one half this year that if you watched it, you would think the team is poorly coached. Just a ton of mental errors and poor rotations.

Maybe we can pull a Sparty and comeback.

I can’t think of a bad play he made.

Let’s see if they wake up on d. Might be too late but I’d like to see the effort.

The point is that Michigan made that a much easier shot than it should’ve been. No one picked up Smith until he was 5 feet from the line. It was way too good of a look to give up and is a great encapsulation of Michigan’s woeful defense today.

I mean there have been a lot of games with real head scratching rotations even in the Bahamas…the rotations tightened up a few weeks ago when we went on our mini run but seems like we’re getting a little loose with them now again

I think Franz’s absence had a critical impact on the defensive end. Without him, there are more missed assignments and communication issues - at least it seems that way. Not to mention that he routinely creates a couple of turnovers per game - he’s gotta play the rest of the way.

I guess, but he picked up two needles fouls by recklessly reaching in.

Yeah, Cowan has made mostly garbage, and Ayala threw up that trash layup and took a contested fadeaway mid range shot. But every other shot they’ve had has been a terrific look.

Imo they just werent focused coming in today…they’ve got tourneys on their mind, while the Pins are playing for a B1G and a top 10 finish…and at home senior day on top of it…a win was a tall order given the circumstances. But, it’s not over yet…but jeez

Yeah, Franz was looking really good in the early going and that really took the wind out of our sails.

X hasn’t really figured out his role on this team that doesn’t have the offensive complementary players like the past two years. He too often defaults to trying to do to much. When was the last time we actually ran the high pick-n-roll?

Michigan isn’t playing great D but Maryland is hitting some tuff shots.

I thought the were mostly open looks off good ball movement and poor communication.

Is this a serious post?
