Game 28: Michigan State at Michigan Open Thread

7 turnovers not great for a team that averages 9.2 per game. Iggy and Livers with two bad ones each.

You’d think we were down 10 based on this thread

I’m curious as to our efficiency in those end of half scenarios… feels like we never get a good look in that situation

Simpson or Winston

Heh, just imagine what’s going on over at mgoblog. They’re probably calling for the University to be disbanded.

Which is the good part. We can play a lot better than this.

I think Aaron Henry, Brandon Johns and Eli Brooks are all pretty close to unplayable in the second half for both coaches.

Tillman, Goins, Winston, McQuaid, Simpson, Poole and Matthews probably all go 18+ in the second half.

Have to think that Michigan will avoid silly turnovers in the second half, but can it make adjustments to slow down the Michigan State offense?

Feels like MSU was almost flawless offensively in H1.

Michigan adjustments in H2:
*Be stronger with loose balls in the paint (especially Iggy and Teske)
*Try to not double Winston or allow him to switch onto Teske when Winston is on offense
*Maybe try to defend Winston with Matthews from time to time
*Defenders need to not jump on McQuaid’s initial shooting motion.
*Michigan needs to avert careless TOs
*Do not leave Goins open.
*Do not play Johns in this game, unless need be. This game is too advanced for him.
*Limit MSU from winning with a 5 on 4 matchup in the half court. Goins and Tillman leaked out easily for at least a dozen points.
*Show us your virtuoso genius Yaklich.

My prediction: the refs tighten it up in the first 5 minutes of the 2nd half before swallowing their whistles the rest of the way.

My god poole was dreadful that first half, absolutely awful

Also, Teske with 0 fouls. That’s a big deal.

Wonder if he plays all 20 in the 2nd half…

MSU 8/9 at the rim…that has got to change.

Time for Matthews and Simpson to clamp down this half.

It’s scary that Michigan shot 5-12 from three and it isn’t enough right now. Gotta find some answers defensively

He had some nice takes to the rim but settled for too many long threes and that flop was just terrible. Absolutely maddening.

Maybe a body foul, but Simpson ‘s body is straight upright. Either way that’s a great play from a small player on a big guy!

They may have to change the Teske hedge. He’s a step slow getting back today.

Is that a bunch of roller coasters on UCF’s court? lol

I thought it was almost a clean block
