Game 17: Northwestern at Michigan Open Thread

Hummel just commented Hunter played 12 mins that half.

Make it make sense, someone.

At least FTs are falling.

Northwestern had 8 points at the 10:00 mark.

He’s getting beat on defense and isn’t bringing much on offense.

after the first 5 minutes, this was a very poorly coached and executed half of basketball. low iq, sloppy, and careless basketball.

even T Wills defense has been suspect, he used to be able to play alot better D. not sure if starting is too much for him or what but i’m making an adjustment in the lineup i’d start there

He’s your best player.

So with 4 mins left in the half they take out Hunter and Jett burn a 2nd timeout and then with 40 seconds left in the half he brings them in??? There needs to be some type of roster makeover in the offseason because Juwan doesn’t feel comfortable with only maybe 7 playable guys. With this roster he needs 9-10 playable guys.

Putting in Hunter for Tarris for a defensive possession with 29 seconds left just shows me that this coaching staff is flying blind with the rotations. How the heck did Jace play over Will

When NW went small, Hunter had to guard Beran, who rang out 12 quick points. And O, they are doubling him and he was throwing wild skip passes. This has been a problem Hunter’s whole career when opposing teams go small.

I think they need to use Hunter more in the high post. Having him post up with automatically bring a double. See what NW does if Hunter faces up.

Jett has obvious NBA tools and translatable skills to being really good at that level offensively. That being said, I’m kind of shocked that it never comes up how he just can’t go left. Audige is sitting hard on his right hand and that’s why his 1 on 1 attempts have been so shaky

Gotta assume we’ll take better care of the basketball in the second half. But defensively, yikes.

Red Panda is the halftime entertainment. Pretty sure she won’t have 9 turnovers and blow a 12 point lead in ten minutes.

If I was an opposing coach vs UM, I’d feel so confident. Limited options to worry about on offense, can get open looks on offense, but mostly just UM isn’t going to consistently make winning basketball plays

This team desperately needs an Eli Brooks.

Good point, but Timmy Hardaway still can’t go left and he’s been in the NBA for 9 years.

Now I’m sad I’m not there.

I have no answers, but any last desperation type feelings I had about turning it around the 2nd half of the year are pretty much gone. This is an NIT team.
