Refs were bad but some of the bball was just as ugly. Not a pretty game. Refs weren’t altering the outcome, they were making some head scratching calls. The game was never in doubt, so I kinda just shrug my shoulders.
while I have not following this very closely, I don’t remember cases that the players caught the virus from the opposing teams. but it takes a lot of luck to get through the season with no infection at all.
Have not been sold on Purdue so I kinda expected something like this as I thought they would really struggle to score. Not having Sasha was a huge loss though. Given all the pre-game drama and ref show that was good to get out with a win. Now hopefully we escape a COVID outbreak…
I believe Michigan women’s basketball team got it from Baylor women’s team. I could be wrong but they had it right after playing Baylor. An Baylor went on lockdown right after playing Michigan.
*Butler, not Baylor
These kinds of games are really hard to call. But, yeah, there were certainly some head scratchers there. Having calmed down a bit now, though, again I have to admit that I sure as heck (see what I did there?!? ) wouldn’t have wanted to officiate that game!
Things that were bad:
- The refs
- Purdue
- Painter’s gaiter
- Franz’s missed shots
- Chaundee’s right shoe
- Eli Brooks almost broke his back by getting landed on by a 7’4” behemoth
Things that were good:
- Michigan
- Michigan’s substitution patterns
- the defense
- some small ball five
- Isaiah Livers’ made shots
- Franz’s everything else
- Eli Brooks didn’t break his back, just his opponents’ spirit
Purdue had five players that shot more than 3 times. All of them shot 33% or worse.
I’ve always maintained the unpopular opinion that our '19 team was the best team of the decade. Unfortunately they ran into a slightly better MSU team 3 times that season and that’s why we got nothing out of it and why people don’t talk about them. I honestly think that in an exhibition game, it could take both our Final Four teams.
Simpson - elite on ball defender and passer
Poole - shooter
Matthews - best wing defender in the country
Iggy - top scorer
Teske - elite paint protection
With Livers and Brooks off the bench.
Every single one of the starters could have been the “best player” or “most important player.” Sort of like this year.
Also the #2 defensive team in the country as well like you mentioned. Some of the defensive performances they put out there were just laughably great. Just stifling and I think they match up with the 2013 team very very well. Just wish they performed in big games the way the FF teams did because they were my favorite team of all time (I think because of the amount of personality they had)
13-1 record is also good.
Seeing MSU 4.5 games behind Michigan in Big Ten standings is also quite satisfying
Dylan agrees
If MSU never plays again they might keep the deficit under 10 games!
Love it when Dylan agrees with something. Makes me feel smart
Hard to say but fun to argue. I would put the team with Wagner and Wilson and a revitalized Derrick Walton right up there. Probably my favorite team of the Beilein era. Who knows what happens if Walton makes that jumper against Oregon
Kenpom is making up for recent quickness with this hour long update time lol.
I don’t know what it says about me that I’m F5ing a college basketball statistics website.
It says that you’re among friends. Cheers!
I noticed. I was so proud of you!
I liked seeing Terrence Williams, Future Smallball Center, getting a shift against Trevion Williams.
Rotations were excellent tonight
They WERE. And that is often my one complaint.
