Minnesota loss was 100x worse than this loss.
Getting too deep into the season for Houstan to be a no show
We got MSU Rutgers and Purdue coming up. All could be ugly
Last years team seemed to have poise from day 1 though I guess there were more vets.
Agreed but did we really need a jace Howard or Greg Glenn over a back end top 100 or better one of those guard types? Those types are available in spades to juwan at um. Did juwan really need to take dug when he had a good shot at Trimble.
Have no idea how this dude was playing well for Team USA over the summer. He canāt beat this man off the dribble or hit shots
Minnesota loss was worse because it was at home and a conference game. But I disagree with the 100x. We got run out of the gym for the FOURTH time this season. The defense isnāt any better. The rotation is still a mess.
Itās not a surprise that this team is having such a hard time figuring out how to play with each other. It is a surprise that the staff seems to be doing so little to aid that process. Juwan and co are doing a terrible job this year, and that is surprising.
Just seems like we make the worst possible play in regards to momentum at all times. Whatās the worst case scenario on a given possession? Give up a three? Done.
Weāve said that the defense has to be better and more consistent. Itās was absolutely abysmal in the second half. I guess itās unlucky that they went 8-8 from 3 in the second half. But then again, they were almost all wide open and in rhythm.
Heās alternated very good and very bad three point shooting years. Heās a career 35% shooter.
Right. Iām not turning on Juwan but heās done a poor job with this team so far. Poorly constructed roster, questionable rotations, lack of improvement, frequent complete collapses that he canāt seem to slow down.
We need to call up Christian Anderson
I think itās a good staff, thatās why Iām so surprised. And disappointed.
Does anyone on this team like to play with each other? It looks like the answer is no.
Since the loss to Minnesota, I think the only team we can say we are better than is Nebraska. I canāt squint and see any big 10 games this year aside from them that I am comfortable saying this team will beat. Hard to believe with what returned and the recruiting class that came in thats where we are at. Has to be one of the biggest tumbles from preseason expectations I can imagine.
Iām not gonna relitigate the Trimble thing since heās not even here and has no effect on this team and his effect on next years team is TBD. That will be an evaluation that will always be connected to Juwan though. Next years roster should have good balance of Houstan is back.
Iām just going to say it. I donāt think this is a Juwan thing. Itās so easy to call him great when they are good and take shots when they are mediocre. I think he did a great job of getting talent. Those guys just didnāt/arenāt here performing. Iām not saying he doesnāt make some mistakes, but he knows more about this game then all of us will ever know. At the end of the day talent matters and rises. Some guys take 2 years to be good (see Eli, X) some guys never perform to expectations (see Chatman, Johns .) I think itās a recruiting fact of life
The quality of those shots and the people who took them is the issue. Maybe 5-8 is what you would expect statistically, but those were good shooters getting good shots.
Michigan isnāt a good shooting team and isnāt very athletic. To win with those two limitations you need to take care of the ball and play good defense. We do neither.
Blame to go around everywhere. I agree with @BigBoutros ā¦they need to get their s"*t together or we arenāt even on the bubble. I know we lost a bunch of games two years ago and made itā¦but we have lost every game against a decent team.
Weāve got to hope the lightswitch turns on for him if we want to have any kind of success. Every prognosis for a good season involved Caleb being a reliable scoring option.
