And the buzz growsā€¦

Itā€™s happening.

All I know is if I was undecided, no chance I take the SAT just in case! Iā€™d have to go all in before taking that gauntlet of a test, especially with English as a second language. Doesnā€™t mean Franz will commit but to me thatā€™s been the strongest indication.

Likely first round selection next year? Seems like a massive stretch.

I think he would probably be projected as a draft pick (top 60) coming into the season. I think what I said on the pod is that heā€™s basically on the top-100 big board for next year.

International scouts are biased towards international players clearly but if true that means he would moreso be a top 15 player in the us than a top 50 one.

I agree with your thoughts. Just think being on the board is a massive leap from being a likely first round draft pick, which would be top 20ish.

I agree that itā€™s a bold take. But a 18/19 year old 6ā€™9 2-way Euro wing who shoots 40%+ from three is late first round worthy.

Iā€™m going to take a wild guess and say itā€™s a Spurs scout.

Kind of thing generally happens when you are just discussing one prospect in a vacuum. Easy to say ā€œfirst round pickā€ without listing out every first round pick.

I think if Franz Wagner actually has the skills to be a likely first round draft pick next year, coming to Michigan would be the best thing possible for that to become a reality. No better situation or roster opportunity to showcase that, and maybe it goes from one scout believing heā€™s a first round talent to double digit scouts believing that.

Probably depends on the role Alba Berlin is selling him on. Heā€™ll get plenty of exposure given their schedule next year.

Does that person close to Franz Wagner have a 1st name of Moritz?

Iā€™m curious how scouts would view that. Would they prefer he get 10 minutes a game in Euroleague in a purely spot up role, or start at Michigan and get a few more playmaking opportunities? Seems like coming to Michigan would kind of be the more risky proposition, in that he could lose some of the mystique heā€™d have as a teenager playing in the 2nd best league in the world. But could pay off if he plays well here.

Doesnā€™t Albaā€™s coach favor a 13-man rotation or something crazy like that? I guess I just doubt that he would be a featured shot-taker on the Alba Berlin roster next year as an 18 year old, no matter what they tell him.

I think it really comes down to whether he views Chipotle and other American fast casual options as alluring as the ubiquitous doner kebab one can find all over Berlin and Europeā€¦

In seriousness, it feels like this is a decision that will somewhat be based on culture. I think Franz is confident that the NBA will be there at some points regardless of decision (and financial incentives donā€™t matter as much for his family at this point). Is it worth adjusting to American life for a bit before the NBA, get a college experience and master English? Or, stay put and play top level ball in Europe, likely with a little more run and fanfare? Who knows, Iā€™m cautiously optimisticā€“but wonā€™t hold a grudge either way. Gotta look out for #1 here if youā€™re Franz. The NCAA can be a bit of an insidious proposition.

AAā€™s got the advantage there, since Mo was deeply in love with Chipotle
