While I am happy for Gregg, it is worth noting that Tulane is not projected as a top 100 team this coming season.
Truly impressive that the entire Tulane basketball team was picked for Team USA! They should go on to play at FIBA next!
I will acknowledge that I have literally never paid attention to the World University Games, is it customary to just send the team from 1 university?
Yep, same as the GLOBL Jam (which Kentucky just played in), etc.
Gregg Glenn? Wow good for him. I hope he excels and has him self a Ibi Watson type career!
Would either of Gregg Glenn or Barnes played valuable mins this year for Michiganās team?
Glenn for sure not. Barnes probably not cause I mean we saw him last year. But technically he would have a path to some PT if he is better than Youssef
They both dropped a level. If we ever need one this year then we have bigger issues
Glennās talent is undeniable, just a question of whether you can trust him to play with discipline and run the offense/defense being called. Itās notable that he was such a late transfer. Was the staff trying to keep him at one point, and then shifted once scholarships looked sparse? Weāll never know.
Okay, Iāll bite. What undeniable talent has he shown that will help him be a great CBB player?
Not saying he canāt eventually develop into a useful player at Tulane, but just not sure what is āundeniableā about his talent.
Itās just the eye test after 30-some years of watching/playing basketball. Canāt give you anything more concrete than that.
Itās notable that Hunter mentioned how talented Glenn was in one of his last podcasts/interviews as a Wolverine. Also, wasnāt he on the U16 or 18 USA team at one point? Thatās a pretty select group.
He was on the U16 team in 2019, yeah. Finished 11th in minutes played out of 12 games.
Impressive use of the eye test if it is based off of the 11 total minutes he played this year.
My larger issue with his game at this level is that heās lacking the athleticism or shooting that you would want for a player of his nature to make an impact.
Hopefully he finds a niche in time at Tulane.
I wish the best for Glenn and I think he has a āweirdā game so it would be interesting and fun if it actually worked out for him. I wouldnāt call it an Ibi Watson situation because Ibi had multiple years at Michigan and then one great year at Dayton (?). Glenn was destined to redshirt at Michigan so he never really got his shot.
I think a different example might be Kam Chatman or Willie Mitchell. Guys who had limited athleticism to play the 3 and were undersized to play the 4 while not really being very good shooters. They moved down levels and found ways to have solid careers.
Kam Chatman is who I thought of as well.
Kam Chatman was a monster at Detroit Mercy
17.8 PPG
8.3 RPG
2.1 APG
47.2 FG%
41.4 3FG% (5 attempts per game)
Did Barnes drop 80 on them?

Looks like Tulsa should be a nice level for him
In the most important game of the day for meā¦ Isaiah Barnes has 10 and 5 at the half
Tulsa up 3 over incarnate word
