I think it’s … complicated. Obviously, there’s still a playoff for the last four UEFA spots. And then there’s a bunch of different geographical rules based on how the pot fills out.
So it gets messy? 
Haven’t looked at it that closely, but that’s my understanding.
The messy part is that the UEFA teams you could get in the last draw (via the playoff) are way better than the other teams in that pot. So I think you kind of want to pick mediocre UEFA draw along the way to maximize a crappy pot 4 team?

so if you get Switzerland or Croatia in Pot 2 you can’t get any of the UEFA playoff teams?
A potential Group of Death would be US/Mex, Colombia/Uruguay, whoever, UEFA playoff
I think the rule is that each group can have no more than 2 UEFA teams (and no more than 1 of any other federation).
There’s a world cup draw simulator. One I just ran had USA/Ivory Coast/Croatia/Italy. Did another one it had USA/Norway/Morocco/Turkey.
I just got Tunisia, Switz, and Iraq. That seems great
