Somebody on Twitter or BSky was saying Puli plays on the right wing for his club and Luna is a natural left winger? I know Puli plays left wing for US but that seems like a pretty easy solution?

Because I’m an insufferable pedant I looked at like 18 lineups from AC Milan and I’d say it is more accurate to say Pulisic “has played right wing” than to say “he plays right wing” because he appears there in 2 of the 18ish games I looked at

Pulisic usually plays on the right with Leao on the left for AC Milan.

Luna feels more like he’d be a squad player than a starter in the World Cup to me.

I’d prefer Tillman playing tucked in on the right with a 100% healthy Sergiño Dest providing the width from that flank.

The soccer calendar is just nuts. Players competing in the Club World Cup have effectively been playing for a year now with little break, and will play another year with the 2026 WC.

1-1 for US and Mexico after a half hour

Feels like it could be a classic so far

Mexico dominating, like M v MSU football 2023

I will ad it to owning a Raul kit

So I am torn tonight

That one’s going to count. Ouch. Mexico has been the superior team though

How is Arfsten just totally Cooked at minute 55

I just think that’s a brutal foul call by a ref who has let everything go all game. Mexico has dominated possession, but they also have been super physical and the ref let it go until a minor foul by Luna gets called in a good spot for a free kick.

Is it fair to say this is El Tri’s A team?

Mix and match

Two goal scorers definitely on their A team

16 year old probably not

Frustrating performance. We have anyone but Agyeman up front, think we are in extra time minimum tonight. He is just so slow and awkward.

Terrible ref. I thought some of the refs in the earlier games did a good job. This guy was brutal. Wildly inconsistent, let Mexico play physical, didn’t give much extra time with all the time wasting.

US showed some flashes with this group, but still lacking a striker. Need someone that can finish.

It’s depressing that Adams, our most tenured player outside Ream, and De La Torre, who at least played in the last WC, got abused for two straight games

No possession, no attack, no initiative

They also need players who can produce chances

And players who can prevent chances

Much closer than the US.

The US is basically a C team, and Mexico is probably a B+ team.

This US roster is basically a try out for the last spots on the WC team more than guys who will be in the WC XI.

Not really. The comp would be similar if we added Balogun up front and McKennie in the middle.

The way the game was officiated (not calling any fouls) definitely plays into Mexico’s favor. But it is also CONCACAF and a US/Mexico game. That’s what they look like, Mexico had guys who have played in those games before.
