European Soccer

I totally missed the whole Spain national team guy forcing kisses on the women’s team. I just heard about it yesterday. Geez…

@mgl what’s the scouting report?

This makes me sad, though:

He was viewed as a major coup when Wolves signed him

He never did very much, but Wolves offense is…a low production environment

He’s a good presser, and a good passer through the midfield, but sometimes will try to thread some passes as if he’s getting a degree of difficulty adjustment

if you’re looking for a guy to carry the ball upfield or beat a defender, I’m less sure

In general he’s really slight, so anything that requires strength will be a challenge

I know Pep has been waxing poetic about him for like three years and the track record on that stuff is pretty good

Was completely absent until Lopetegui came in (though the whole team was pretty wretched beforehand). You’d see a fantastic player in spurts, but never consistent. How much of that was Wolves vs Nunes is up for debate. I think Man City gets the best of him or he’s a bust, but would lean toward him reaching his potential at City. He’s an emotional, confident player. Felt his performances at Wolves were very black and white. Either fantastic or puzzling.

Regardless, if he doesn’t perform, City will be fine. Wolves will need to use the money to add to the starting eleven and depth quickly. Sounds like we are getting a CB from Gerona that has Uruguay national team caps and getting Tommy Doyle (two solid seasons in the Championship, little Prem experience) in return for Nunes. Probably need one more midfielder and a wide player if possible.

It seems like I’ll need a Peacock subscription to watch any of these games.

A significant portion of the EPL is on Peacock, yep.

You’ll also need it to watch Michigan football or basketball, though.

Blah. Nice few but he is going to be good IMO.

If he’s healthy, Brighton getting Ansu Fati on loan is a major win

I caved in today.

Brighton/Newcastle at 11:30 central on NBC should be a fun one

Eddie Howe gonna be feeling the pressure. Dream start against Villa, no problem with a one goal loss against City away. But losing late against Liverpool with a man advantage and Brighton dissecting them….

However, easily the most difficult schedule to start. Don’t play another big 6 club til November, so time for them to pick up points. But Howe always seemed like a bridge manager to me under PIF

I’m hearing Man City got away with a robbery

Haven’t even started UCL, though. That will be a big strain on them IMO.

I assume this is a joke about Ake’s goal? I actually thought it should have been offside, but that call seems to go not how I think it should over and over in the EPL. The one last year against Man United was absurd.

I don’t know anything about soccer I just know one Fulham fan and he was mad and I saw Haaland say it was offsides

Yeah, but the game ended 5-1

Yeah, I don’t think Howe is going to last the season unless they advance to knockout stage of UcL. But with a group of Dortmund, PSG, and AC Milan….they might finish last. And that means they need to be comfortably in the UCL spots in the Prem for Howe to not feel the pressure. He’s gone before January IMO

Tim Ream scored tho
