Eric Davis Highlights

Caris put his name in for feedback from the draft advisory committee this year and is in the first round of every single mock draft for 2015, it seems like. Like anything, if you want to view the likelihood of his departure in an unfavorable light to Michigan, you can.

Except I was one of the few high on Caris’ NBA prospects when certain people were saying it was crazy. Oh the irony.

If I’m Harris, I assume the worst for each situation/team and hope for the best with my 2 years of eligibility.

So you do think it’s likely that Caris will leave after this year?

Also, preparing for the worst and hoping for the best is not a bad strategy. But preparing for the worst at Michigan and the best everywhere else does not seem like a good plan for recruits.

By the way, the way I remember it, many of us were quite high on Caris, but you insisted that he was Michigan’s best player and Nik was not because of awful defense and inability to get by his man. Well, Nik looks like he’s going to do pretty well in the NBA draft this very year.

Of course, we all tend to remember things in the way that favors us.

It’s unfortunate that you feel the need to make sure everyone knows how right you were about Caris and how wrong others were about Caris. Arrogance and condescension are things better left off this forum.

In response to someone attempting to explain to me Caris’ NBA stock? You may need to look up the definition of “arrogance and condescension”

Who said it was? My point was that MSUs worst case scenario still is a depleted roster.

You do realize those threads are archived, correct?

Any timeframe for decision from Coleman, Davis, or Harris?

Wondering if Harris does go blue, could he make it on the Europe trip?

Guestavo, you crack me up. You spent a ton of time arguing Caris is awesome, and will be a first round pick in 2015. And after he goes out, has a great season and essentially proves you right, now you want to back off your prediction?

Again, you must have missed it when the coaches specifically commented a month ago that when it comes time for the 2015 draft, they’ll be going through the whole NBA feedback process again with Caris. They know.

But hey, if you want to stick to your guns and insist MAAR - a three star, relatively unknown recruit who hasn’t played a game yet - will scare off Harris but Ellis (a higher rated guy who will probably start every game for MSU this year) won’t, that’s your right. But no one here agrees with that line of thinking.

guestavo, do you think Caris is leaving after this year?

And sadly, I don’t have much time due to real work today, but here’s something I tracked down quickly where you say about Nik: “Take away PnR and he is essentially useless outside of shooting jumpshots” and another poster asks you “Why do you always need to trash Nik in order to prop up Caris?”

Anyway, I will continue to believe that UM is going to get quality guard and wing recruits. If you don’t, that’s your choice. I look forward to all your updates and tweet-links and so forth.

Just wonder how the topics changed from Davis to Harris to Caris to Nik :-S

MSUs worst case is a depleted roster? Not any more so than Michigan without Caris.

Ellis (4 star), Bess (4 star) and Valentine (tons of experience and should be the go to guy next year) for 2 spots

MAAR (3 star), Dawkins (2 star) and Irvin (4 star) for 2 spots…

Looks to me like both situations are extremely favorable for a guy like Harris… Neither lineup should scare him away… He would likely start on both, but UM would be the team with an open starting position to fill with Caris leaving… MSU will not have an open starting position with Ellis and Valentine returning

And where in the world did Dylan get that horrible haircut? Ugh.
Anyway…back to Hoke not wearing a headset…

I happy they offered Davis.
Was time to cast the net wider.
Coleman / Brunson have had a year.
Still hope they come but have to look out for betterment of program and make sure dont end up with scraps.
I like Davis. I think we’ll know the Harris decision in next few weeks. I think we’d take 2 of the guard offers we have assuming Harris gets one.

We must have struck out with a lot of kids to offer Davis.

Congrats on the offer Davis. If you do commit, I hope you spend your entire career knocking down jumpers in my eye!

How is offering an instate top 50 guard with a boatload of major offers and multiple UM visits a sign that we struck out with a lot of kids?!? Sheesh.

Time will tell 93.

Davis is better than Grandstaff and on par with McQauid, Coleman and Brunson, based on what I see from EYBL.

He is going to add another inch or two. My only worry is his shooting.

If Ferrell, Hulls and Oladipo can start , why not Thornton Jr- Davis- Coleman?

Oladipo is a freak athlete and defender which those 3 are not… Oladipo could defend SFs and was an excellent rebounder… Quite the difference

Ok… Gary Harris fits the same criteria and is not a freak athlete. Coleman has been lauded as a great on-ball defender fyi. I’d also guess Thornton Jr > Ferrell and Davis > Hulls. Idk, I feel like we should attempt to get 2 great guards in 2015 and figure it out.

Those 3 guards you mentioned can 100% start together. 3 guards, no matter what size, works all the time in CBB.

I don’t disagree that getting 2 guards for 2015 is a good thing… I’m just not sure they can all play together without sacrificing at the defensive end for whoever attempts to guard the 3… Id prefer the combo to be Harris and one of them though so it would only be a problem for one year, two at most… and not potentially 2-3

I don’t see it being a problem on offense at all. JB would make it work. Defense could pose a problem if the opponent has a strong 3 or burly 2 guard, but we seem to get by with mediocre/bad defense anyways.
