Detroit Pistons & NBA Talk

Yeah I think it’s an overpay but he’s a good player at a position of scarcity.

i don’t think there’s enough discussion of how cute jaden ivey is. the winning smile, the hair, all of it. the biased news media is preventing my opinions from being considered in the marketplace of ideas, and i’m sick of it! he’s a cutie!

If they are still leaning towards getting Ayton then I don’t get trading for Duren. He’s great value but he won’t get much time behind Ayton and then certainly they’re dealing Stewart. Wouldn’t make sense to me.

James Edwards said they are no longer gonna go big game hunting with their cap space.

They were probably never going after Ayton.

IMO Bridges is a pretty good buy. He’s not 2nd or 3rd best player on a championship team rn but he’s prob a 5th? And he’s young enough to have the upside to get there.

I’m still not convinced Pistons shouldn’t just be buying bad contracts and all that but there are worse ways to spend money if you’re not gonna go for Wembanyama. I just don’t get why you wouldn’t take a crack at a generational talent first.

Duren / Stewart on cheap deals could be nice. I like it

Me too. That seems like the value they wanted out of Grant all along.

just came here to say I’m absolutely euphoric about having Ivey and Duren and I’m not sure how the NBA let us get away with this robbery

I think we suddenly have enough young talent to let them develop and see what we have and keep tanking. I’m not vehemently opposed to signing either Ayton or Bridges but leaving flexibility for the future, getting Wemby, and wanting to see a home grown team are all reasons I think we shouldn’t be signing big free agents.

On the other hand, if, say, we sign Ayton and Bridges, we would presumably have 2 spots on a contending squad filled. Cade + Saddiq + Ivey and those 2 would make a nice team. L

Not bad but I’m thinking more like Ayton-Bey-Cade-Ivey-Kyrie

Hah

How about,

Trade: Saddiq Bey, Beef Stew, Olynyk, Killian, Duren, next year’s first.

Acquire: Kevin Durant

would you do it? It would be Cade-Ivey-KD-Hami-Bagley lol

KD’s too old for us to trade for IMO. The rest of our core is not gonna be good enough to field a championship contender next year so it would be a waste

I highly doubt the Pistons do anything big this offseason.

Wouldn’t do it giving up that much. I’d wait for Kyrie to implode the organization, then convince them it’s time to rebuild and clear salary. Offer a bunch of picks and Olynyk or Gary Harris if we sign him.

I really want the Pistons to hang onto Kelly.

They still don’t have much spacing, and they were so much better when he stepped on the floor.

I don’t want them to go hard at the play-in (if it happens because the young guys are good, so be it) but I do think they should structure their team in a way the young guys can function, and he will help Cade and Ivey be much more effective. Ivey seems like he’d be lethal on a spaced floor.

I really like the direction their off-season has taken. They’re going to be young and make a bunch of mistakes, but they should be exciting and fun while they start figuring it out. I think this team with Bridges would be cool. I’m less excited about throwing all the money at Ayton and I don’t think they’re going to (nor am I convinced the Suns wouldn’t match anyway). I’m not expecting any more fireworks - maybe a modest move or two and we see if they can content for the play-in while the young guys find their way.

Yeah I agree… play it cool, use cap space to acquire draft assets for another year, then push for 23-24 playoffs.

The Knicks and Kings were involved.
