Ant bring coached by Tom crean at uga is such a random combination

My favorite moment of the game was during a late replay review, Ant was doing, I think, an extremely exaggerated impression of Luka’s ref-crying hysterics with a big smile on his face, and Lebron laughing along hysterically at him

Duncan’s joke: ā€œI don’t know that there was a whistle but you generally don’t need to give Luka a big excuse to stop running.ā€

Finally - I am not a Gobert hater (I think he’s awesome defensively) at all and don’t buy the ā€œRudy gets cooked on the perimeterā€ stuff (he’s 7’3ā€!!!), but at least in this series where the Lakers preference is to just not play a center, I think Naz at center is just a better lineup? With Randle’s absurd strength that front court pairing has everything it needs in this matchup. Especially if the whistle is going to be this muted, Randle basically gets wherever he wants on either side of the ball.

I do wonder where this Wolves team goes long term

The Gobert trade has I think basically worked out but it was always weird that you were pairing a 31 year old with a 22 year old as your best players

The future here is to build around Ant probably and maybe Jaden McDaniels if he doesn’t get too pricy

Their roster next year is basically locked in. I assume Randle takes his $30 mil option. The only issues are retaining Reid (I’d guess he declines the $15 mil option? Could use bird rights up to like $22 which seems sufficient) and NAW (he’s gone? His bird rights extension would start at $8 mil, so don’t think that’s feasible). Everyone else is locked in.

Randle and Gobert are at ages they’re declining (Rudy showing some especially offensively, but a little defensively) and Randle not yet but should be soon. But it’s reasonable to think that they’re both pretty good next year but wouldn’t want them to be the long term plan.

Their big mission should be to get out of the Gobert business if the opportunity presents itself and use some picks as a sweetener to get a younger star type?

Was he? He just showed tons of talent but wasn’t a super functional player?

(side note: I had also forgotten how much worse it got for Crean at UGA)

I mean he shot a lot, shot poorly, and turned it over a ton. The team was sort of structured for him to do whatever he felt like

There was a ton of chatter before the draft that maybe he was just a losing player with uncorrectable habits

His draft slot had more to do with his athleticism than anything else

IMO their upside is figuring out what Naz and Jaden are. They’re starting to reach the flat part of the aging curve and it kinda doesn’t seem like they’re gonna be top 50 guys at any point in their careers. If so, can they both start on a championship team featuring Ant? Probably not.

Like, as much as Wolves fans got mad about DDV and Randle early, in the end they produced what you would’ve guessed they would. If Naz and Jaden were actually really good, the Wolves would’ve won a lot more games than they did.

I’m not sure what they should do about this exactly bc it’s not like they have a ton of draft capital to work with. I’d guess the answer is trading McDaniels bc he’s rarer positionally and will be more coveted. Can the Wolves put together a Giannis package?

McDaniels isn’t a star but he’s a value on his deal. I think you keep him. Naz is what he is - a top backup at his spot who can close in certain matchups

Obviously need to hope Dillingham becomes a Dude

I think the obvious choice is to package Rudy with some picks and try to get a stat off a bad team

I think Naz and Jaden are very similar in per minute impact and neither is even threatening to get to All Star level. Ant is proooobably not gonna be a true Giannis/Jokic level impact guy. That means they need to win a title Celtics/ā€˜04 Pistons style with a ton of top 50 guys.

Rudy is prob not a positive asset, right? Randle prob is but narrowly since he’ll be expiring. It’s gonna be a minute before they can accumulate their own picks to send out.

So, for better or worse, the way forward there is Naz and/or Jaden for a guy good enough to maybe even make Ant the 2nd banana. Like, Jaden being a value on his deal is why he’s attractive in a trade. Naz, prob same once he gets extended again.

Denver Nuggets are on the Highway To The Danger Zone

20 point lead entering the 4th quarter is down to 1. Wow.

Denver has 11 points in the quarter with under 2 to go

I’m trying to decide if I should do my Archer ā€œDanger Zoneā€ link or link to Too $hort’s ā€œBlow The Whistleā€ to make fun of Jokic’s f*cking whining

lol Bogdanovic just stole that board

These two effort levels aren’t comparable

we’re saying Jokic isn’t trying now? good play by Bogi tho

lol let’s stick with what I said

Did Bogdanovic not just take it from his hands because he assumed he had it? Yes, he did.

(Big shot from Jokic, wish he didn’t talk to the refs every possession)

you said different levels of effort. to me implies one person was putting in effort and one wasn’t. unless you meant team wide

more that one has played 19 minutes and the other is at 44 which is kinda wild

Ok man - you’re right

I don’t think think Jokic is trying

glad we got an understanding

lol holy sh*t I think that’s good

An airball that becomes an alley oop buzzer beater

WILD finish. As close as it gets. I think the call was correct though

IMHO Jokic was getting assaulted and deserved a lot more calls than he got.

Insane finish
