Detroit Pistons & NBA Talk

Oh didn’t realize it was on ESPN. Glad Pistons put on a good show on national tv.

Tobias Harris 5 blocks tonight

A really entertaining win. Cade was Cade but Ausar was really good tonight.

Celtics being sold for 6.1 billion.

the fact that Ausar can be so good without a shot that opponents need to respect is wild. If he develops any kind of three point shot he will be an all star.

We’ll see once the playoff starts. NBA coaches have a way to eliminate non-shooter wing players once they scheme up for specific opponent, but they’re using Ausar as a secondary creator, hard drive to the hoop cutting, placing him at dunker spot, and being a lob threat.

We’ve seen teams run off non-shooting wing players like Tony Allen, Andre Roberson, out of the court in the playoff.

When numbers get that high, it’s hard to gauge. But that’s lower than I would’ve guessed their worth.

It’s the 4th highest valuation in the NBA just behind Golden State, NYK and the Lakers. Doesn’t seem that off.

I assumed all would be worth more.

They had a stinker tonight and Hardaway sprained his ankle in the 2nd quarter. Yuck.

Ron Holland with his best game as a Piston. He was the first teenager to go 25/5/5 with 0 turnover. The Pistons defense has kinda fallen off a bit as of late which coincides with Tobias being out. Granted, Tobias isn’t a great defender, but he’s a passable defender who can play the 4. They really don’t have anyone who can play this position.

Ausar has been a foul machine as of late so something is up with how he defends with the whistle he’s been getting lately. I wonder if coaches told the ref to watch for something when Ausar is on defense.

I went to this game. Good crowd for what should’ve been snoozer. Holland just makes things happen. Every time the energy waned, he made a play.

Perfect role for Ron. Play hard with energy and defend as hard as possible.

This is a compliment and not a criticism but that was the most gangly and awkward 26 points I’ve ever seen. that takes some serious athleticism to achieve…

JB + Vinson + Not Monty + etc. effect pretty impressive

TPTSNBN was discussing on their coach rankings pod JB’s ability to get basically anyone, no matter how sorry they were previously to defend at a credible level (specifically for Detroit noted how much better Hardaway and Beasley have been than career norms, noted big improvements in Cade and Ivey)

Yeah, and I never doubt it’s going to go in. He just charges forward at full speed, get the defender back=pedalling like crazy and then somehow slows up in the air to finish easily.

It’s also a big finding when you run, like, RAPM models with a coach included. They have big effects and it tends to be on defense.

Im curious on thoughts here. The Pistons on the surface were obvious lottery losers just with the drop. Holland has done well in his role. How would this team look if they had won the lottery?
