I watched the entire game. Itâs very weird how physical they allow some possessions then the type of calls they made throughout the 2nd half. Very weird game from the officials.
Good for him. The owner should happily pay whatever fine he gets. The Pistons and Cade are treated like a GLeague team sometimes by the refs.

The thing Cade got tossed for was utter nonsense, terrible call

The general vibe here - I think itâs fine if heâs making a point to try to get a better whistle (itâs not his job to be fair and balanced itâs to advocate for his team) but every coach in the league has a presser every year where they say the league holds a conspiracy to hurt them, and itâs obviously nonsense (Iâd guess JB is doing the prior and not actually believing the latter). Daignault himself had one of these performances like two weeks ago! The refs donât âdisrespectâ any team.
EhâŚyou may be right in that the erratic red performance is more because they are human and the nature of how Detroit (or any other maligned team) plays.
But, the NBA refs do cater to stars more than any other level of basketball. The âstar whistleâ is at least somewhat of a real thing. The Pistons have one guy who should be a star but has been marginalized his whole career from both injuries and playing on a tanking team. The stats confirm he doesnât get any calls compared to his contemporaries despite high usage, high rim rate, and high minutes.
It isnât hard to believe that he feels like we arenât getting the respect. Likewise, almost all of his examples were about his interactions with the refs and not specific calls. If true, thatâs a big indictment. They wonât talk to him, they yell at him, they wonât review thingsâŚwhile the other coach is getting that? Could be a biased perspective (I didnât watch the game). But if Dusty had that rant against Szelcz giving him a T while Brad, Izzo, and Fran are screaming at refs? Feels like disrespect.
Iâm just saying that you can probably find this post on every team site in the NBA
Stats show the Pistons are middle of the pack in free throw rate, sitting well above teams run by foul drawing machines like Jalen Brunson who plays for a team that these theories always claim is a favored son
Selling fouls is a skill - we may find it unsavory or something but itâs a skill, and I think watching Shai last night would have laid that bare
Guys who watch them more than me probably know better but Cade often isnât barreling into chests, etc, to my eye
Donât necessarily think disrespect, just sh%%ty at their jobs.
You will get no argument from me here
Like, the reason for tossing Cade last night (which wasnât a foul/no foul call) would have made me lose it
I think Iâm also way more tolerant than most here on refs because every game thread I think 3/4 of you are nuts, lol
Like last night, the official was accidentally about to do something objectively wrong (award OKC free throws without a foul call!) and Cade said âwhat the f*** are you doing!?â, and I think the ref just tossed him because he was reflexively embarrassed
Itâs really sad to hear this automated âDefenseâ chant on the PA when the Pelicans are down 125-81.
The Pistons certainly bounced back tonight.
Zion had a big game, but McCollum was stinky last night.
Zion had a dunk on Beef, but Beef returned the favor the next play leading to Cade alley oop dunk.
man, with no Trey Murphy, the floor for the Pelicans on offense gets awful tight afwul fast, McCollum basically the only starter who will take a three
looks like this one was done after about 16/17 minutes of game time
Zion was 1-7 from the floor in the first half. He had a big 3rd quarter but the Pelicans were down 31 to start things there, so his final numbers are a little deceiving. He did play strong that quarter but the Pistons were also a little more relaxed after the break. I think the closest the Pelicans got was 20, maybe 19. Then, after a bucket and Bruce Brown getting the double-tech treatment put the led back to 24, the Pistons regained focus and never looked back.
CJ may have had the worst shooting game of his career. 1-15 FG and 1-5 from the line.
Pistons end of bench players really poured it on at the end. Nice to have Paul Reed and Marcus Sasser there in case of emergencies.
Yeah, i think they has three different guys hit 3âs in a sequence. They took it from a 30-point lead to over 40.
Fontecchio had his best offensive game of the year, with 23 points. It was nice to see him finally clicking.
