If he’s cleared to play, sure. Even if cleared, I would expect them to ease him back in and monitor his minutes. The team was already making strides before he got hurt, winning 4 of the final 5 games he played. He still has our two buzzer-beater winning shots on the season and also made many buckets to beat the buzzer to end quarters and halves.
@mgl have you seen anything about what happened w Mikal’s 3 pt shot? didn’t he seem like he had the full on yips and then pretty much figured it out?
I did read something that basically people have been tweaking his shot since he came into the league (his instinctual shot bro g the ball behind his head) and he sometimes lapses out of the proper form - basically shooting with motion efficiency is a constant battle
He’s been walking, but not sure when he’ll be cleared to do further activities. He has been rehabbing with the trainers, and I think they’ll re-evaluate in a week or so to see if he is equipped to progress to the next step. The good news is it’s only a fibula injury, not a tibula/fibula injury that Hutch suffered (there was no way that Hutch was going to be ready for the SB if the Lion were to get there IMO, he was still limping in the divisional round on the sideline).
Another game, another W. The Pistons blow out the Jazz. Utah didn’t play Lauri, Collins and Clarkson but the Pistons didn’t have Tobias, Stew, (and of course Ivey) tonight.
The Clippers are up next on Wednesday.
On the bright side for Utah Filipowski went for 25 and 8. His babysitter/girlfriend/wife should be ecstatic.
Levert with a game winning layup to win @ Memphis. Love seeing stuff like that cause of the crap I’ve had to watch with moves involving former Michigan players. Poole, Timmay, and Levert have all been traded from contenders the past several years
This year, TIMMAY upgraded!
The Pistons defense has been the 2nd best defense since Jan 1. That tracks.
Two big reasons why the Pistons has been playing well this year is defense and their 2 pt shooting. They have been great inside the arc. Despite Beasley shooting like a gangbuster, they’re an okay 3 pt shooting team (12th in the NBA in 3PFG%).
It’ll be interesting to see how the Pistons will handle in the playoff with increased intensity and scheme to take away Cade and probably will leave Ausar alone to muck up the paint.
how much are they going to have to pay Beasley this off-season…
I’d say a pretty good chunk. But he wants to be here, so maybe he’ll settle for a little less than he’d get elsewhere?
What tanking team is putting forth the stankiest rotation
(names ordered by minutes load, highest to lowest)
-
Wizards, last night: Bub Carrington, Bilal Coulibaly, Kyshawn George, Alex Sarr, Khris Middleton, Justin (not Julian!) Champagnie, Corey Kispert, Richaun Holmes, Marcus Smart
-
Hornets: Ball, Bridges, Mark Williams, Nick Smith Jr., Josh Green, Damion Baugh, DaQuan Jeffries, Tidjane Salaun, Jusuf Nurkic, Seth Curry
-
Utah Jazz: Isaiah Collier, Walker Kessler, Johnny Juzang, Collin Sexton, KJ Martin, Keyonte George, Kyle Filipowski, Brice Sensabaugh, Cody Williams, Svi Mykhailiuk, Jaden Springer
-
Nets: Cam Johnson, Keon Johnson, Killian Hayes, Ziaire Williams, Nix Claxton, Reece Beekman, Jalen Wilson, Tyrese Martin, Day’Ron Sharpe, Maxwell Lewis
I THINK I say Nets are the stankiest group, followed by the Jazz. The Hornets group looks ok, so truly impressive job by then NGAF. I may be giving the Wizards group too much credit because it’s basically lots of the players they’ve been using all year, it’s not like it’s specifically a tanking rotation, but they just stink.
Probably somewhere in the neighborhood of $16-18 mil per?
Projected standard mid level for this summer is ~$14MM. I can’t see him getting anything less than that. Based on his track record, I’d say something in the 3y/$50MM range is a starting point. That being said, I don’t follow NBA transaction/contract news as much as I used to, so maybe I’m way off.
I agree with you guys, but Malik getting 1 year for $6 mil this year after making 224 threes for a nominal title contender last year was wild to me.
Criminally undervalued and the best FA signing by a wide margin if you go by ROI. The hope is he loves Detroit which makes sense since it’s his hometown and he might be willing to stay and still get a significant pay raise. The Pistons still have an ample cap space to give him the money.
THJ, Schroder, BBall Paul are off the book after this season. They can easily offer Beasley a good sized contract in the 16-18 mil per. Ivey will simply replace Schroder in terms of role so that’s not a problem. They can hold off on Ivey and Duren extension until after next season.
Wiz tally 3 of the 25 worst DARKOs in the league in their starting 5?
Not even Killian Hayes—not currently recognized as a current player, lol—can keep up with that level of tankery.
Wizards coming in to Detroit for back to back games soon.
Yeah, I have no doubt that the Wizards have, since game 1, been putting the worst roster out, and this shows that. Starting two rookies and a 19 year old sophomore are a pretty great way to be absolutely terrible. Just wondering if any of these more tank-centric roster surpass it (Hornets doing yeoman’s work given that they’re playing their three “stars”).
