You need to look at just games 3-8, where he wasn’t rusty to start the season and wasn’t injured and thinking about shutting it down. Those are the only real games, obviously.
Such a small sample size, but just remembered this post, and the hope that he can certainly be a tier above what is being talked about here. It’s also certainly possible that Ivey is awesomer, too.
Very curious to see how Cade moves after this corrective surgery. And with all the added muscle. His efficiency has been held back by him getting a terrible whistle for the most part so hopefully he’lll get to the foul line more.
Do you project Ivey to be even an average defender? I don’t, not really.
I actually do. I think he can be above average. He has the traits to be a good defender and it’s a matter of him putting in work which I trust that he can do.
He has the physical tools I guess
But people don’t retain guards like this because they’re stoppers
Also, defense is the last refuge for people arguing about guards (see Killian Hayes, who isn’t even that good at it)
Ivey was absolutely terrible to start the year at controlling his speed on offense. He’d just take off and go to the basket at full speed every time. He had significantly improved that by the end of the year, changing speeds, improving his midrange game immensely to make defenders need to respect it so he could turn on the jets and blow by them. He also really improved his playmaking.
Given he was able to change those behaviors during his rookie season, when more and more was being dumped on him as the tank began, I think he can improve defensively. He can learn to not go for the bad steal attempts which put him out of position and really nail what the scheme is to fill a role. He’s not going to be some lockdown defender, but I absolutely think he can be average because his faults are mental and not physical.
I thought Ivey improved quite a bit on defense by the end of the year.
I like.
Giovny said Walker at 5 is on the board for draft day but if they trade down, JHS is in play. I would hate both scenario especially JHS.
Jesus christ, STOP, NO.
‘Don’t worry guys, we didn’t draft tweener soft Beef Stew.
We did the smart thing and traded down for Jalen Hood Schiffino!!’
If we trade down and don’t get Kobe Bufkin plus literally any guy not named Walker and JHS, I stg I’m dying on Thursday.
I really would be shocked if anyone trying to trade down from 4-7 succeeds
the universal scout is that prospects 4-10 have little separation
That’s a reason why I doubt I’ll be upset with any guy that Troy lands on. Also a reason why I doubt I’ll be doing backflips over any pick.
whispers I like JHS.
Wait Beef Stew is soft?
He’s saying that Walker is a soft version of Stew.
I’m almost of the mind that anyone outside of the top 3-4 in the first round is pretty much the same caliber of prospect so I wouldn’t mind conveying 5 and 31 into as many bites at the apple as possible. Like, I think Kobe Bufkin could easily become the best in the draft outside of Wemby and a guy like Brice Sensabaugh or Leonard Miller or Bilal could become an All Star.
Wemby
Scoot
Amen
Miller
Ausar
Whitmore
Hendricks
Black
Bufkin
Wallace
Divk
Jordan Hawkins
Keyontae George
Bilal Coulibaly
Leonard Miller
I will take any two/three of these guys.
No, Jarace is a soft Beef Stew.
I do too, but probably in the teens
I think it will be hard to conclusively criticize any of the picks 4-10 at draft time, obviously will be easier later
I will retain my Grady Dick flag though. I think you know almost exactly what you’re getting, and it’s valuable
