Detroit Pistons & NBA Talk

Like this is obviously a misrepresentative sample, but watch the end of this clip where Magic goes coast to coast with only his right hand when a simple crossover probably gets him an easy layup. I don’t think he takes a left handed dribble in this entire 2:30 stretch lol

Yeah I mean players now are more skilled. And yes it’s also true rules have been bent a bit since. But it’s kind of silly to think players from the 80s could hang if transported as is, as at the time basketball was still kind of a young sport and the 3 point line was new. So of course the players now are better and that’s not an insult. But when comparing across eras you should be comparing relative to who they played or else it gives a disservice to both sides.

Also if you want a more fair take on all of this, check out Ben Taylor’s video about it. It’s a must watch for any basketball fan

Oh wait wasn’t Ben Taylor it was Hoopvision

But also the Greatest Peaks series from Ben Taylor is of a similar vein and also a must watch. It will take a couple hours to watch all of them though

Ant also thinks Antoine Walker was better than Larry Bird. So…

Did Monty have his press conference? I didn’t find any clips on YouTube.

Seeing speculation that the Mavs would trade 10 and THJ for Bogey. Don’t really like that as THJ should start declining soon, I’d imagine.

I’d do it. A top 10 pick and a rotation backcourt player for 34 year old Bogey. I’m skeptical that Pistons will eventually be able to get a better deal than that.

Chance you could get Whitmore or Amen at 5 and then they might be able to get Hendricks, Black, Walker, Gradey or Ausar at 10 depending on who falls.

1000 times yes

Hardaway is there to match salary and he’s still useful (not as good as Bogey, but I’ve been screaming for a trade from him)

#10 will get a real player

Ohter thing to note is that is that Timmy’s contract declines in annual value

Whitmore and Hendricks at 5 and 10 would be the ideal scenario for the Pistons.

I don’t understand why Dallas would do that. THJR’s contract is only 2 years at $17M per remaining. He plays this year as a bench shooter and then they could flip him next season as an expiring contract to a team looking to rebuild. Detroit should jump on that if it’s available.

That’d be highway robbery for the Pistons. Bogey is good but not THAT much better than Timmy

Because Bogey is better and if they can’t show Luka something he’s gonezo, they are win now

I think he’s a good bit better (better shooter, better passer, better defender)

but I also think it’s a slam dunk to do it

I’ve slowly come around to hoping the Pistons get Dick, would even consider just taking him at 5

I question it from the Mavs because their defense would already be trash with Luka (and Kyrie if he stays, idk what is going on with him). But Bogey is obviously bad at defending too (not that THJ is good, but he’s slightly more adequate).

I think it depends who they’re guarding. Bogey has always handled big wings ok, struggled on smaller guys (Hardaway sort of bad at both). I think the defensive gap isn’t that big. Bogie is a much better offensive player though, even though Timmy is solid.

I think it really depends on who is available at 10. But I suppose even if those you listed are gone, Kobe would be there

Depending on how they stagger minutes, Bogey gives them someone that can really pass while Luka rests.

It was my very uninformed understanding that Luka and Bogey are close as well, and Bogey showed out against Dallas twice last year (which shouldn’t matter, but in my simple head it does).
