But if I was the Magic, and thought Brandon Miller was a future all nba guy (I’m not saying I think this), I’d take him over Franz, god bless him, all day every day.
I don’t think you stray from BPA until you know you have a top 15 guy at the spot. Especially if you are still building.
This is why Cade and Ivey aren’t stopping me from taking Scoot
I liked Casey and think he fulfilled his duties of tanking while maintaining a good locker room, but this team needed a new voice. Hope they bring in a whole new staff instead of promoting one of his assistants.
I’m interested in seeing what a fresh new face can do but I’m not convinced Casey hasn’t had a positive influence on this admittedly sh#tty squad. It’s not a foregone conclusion that the next guy can keep the locker room stability and continue to nurture the young talent.
Yeah I mean he’s coached an unserious team (not just in terms of talent but roster construction - no wings, two shooters, 68 centers) for three years, I don’t think his tenure really says anything about his quality. He succeeded in molding the Raptors into a real team, I think he could still have a role here.
Oh I definitely think he should be part of the organization. And I was never one to think he was a terrible coach that needed to be fired.
But I think at a certain point, you need to hear a new voice. Especially when you’ve been losing. Sometimes you’ve just learned everything you’re going to learn from one person. (I always tell students who are deciding between a 2nd class with me and a class with a different lecturer, “you’ve already heard my greatest hits.”)
Luka is great but giving all that up for him with not much talent on the roster is a tough pill to swallow. It’s fine if you need to get over the hump from solid to good/great team.
