Detroit Pistons & NBA Talk

No thread for it so I figured I’d post this in the the other bad Detroit pro team thread. You guys are killing me blowing that game to the fins!

I was talking a lot of crap when you guys jumped out early too. I had some fins fans pretty upset, my Bills needed that buffer. Particularly since I expect the Packers to play well tonight.

It times up perfectly with Cade’s extension so not too long plus it’s a tradable asset down the road.

Good win by the Pistons. They need it and well earned against the defending champ.

Sly… the Packers suck

Fun game tonight. Cunningham is looking good, Bey was expanding his game. Ivey has been very good this year. Bojan 20 points on 8 shots will do. Still think if/when Bagley/Noel/Burks are ready they have more options and can play different ways. Joseph hardly got any run which was interesting.

I hope with Burks back, Hayes doesn’t get much PT because he’s not good.

Tough loss tonight, competed hard fell behind and Jrue hit a big 3. Cade is looking real good.

Ivey has been pretty good so far. Has one bad game but he came off from a flu. Otherwise, he’s been pretty consistent. He’s already great at getting to the hoops and making shots. His 3 pt shooting has been acceptable but can get better. The next step in his evolution is 3 pt shooting and mid-range shots as well as improving defense. These are all tangible steps for Ivey’s development.

I see a path where the Pistons can be really good. Just need an off-season or two for Weaver to develop depth especially at the wing.

We have Cade, Bey, Livers, Ivey, Duren as NBA players. Need one more star player alongside Cade and Ivey.

One more star player you say? Perhaps a fella named WEMBANYAMA???

Ivey’s at 46% from 2. I was thinking we’d have to live with sub 40% for the first few months. He’s also making some nice reads, and of course the 3pt sample size is even smaller than the overall shooting numbers, but still encouraging. I thought it would be a rougher breakin period. Very encouraged.

Stew is an NBA-rotation player. I’d rather he be our back-up C but he’s a guy every team can use. And, at least for the next 2 years, we have Bojan and Bags too.

Ivey’s 34.5% on threes at 4 attempts/game. Much better than I expected. It takes him a while to load up so most of these are when people are sagging off him but, with his first step, you basically have to sag off him.

If he can improve it to high 30s, it’s acceptable since it’ll be good enough to punish defenders on sagging off or going under the screen. I think he can do it

I hope Duren takes the starting job at C and move Beef Stew to the bench. It’ll be better overall and Duren can do things that Beef cannot do.

He basically doesn’t take pull-up twos, not really a part of his game. So makes sense that his 2P% should be decent.

46% on 2’s isn’t that great. He’s actually at 46% from the floor and 52% from 2. That’s good enough for 5th best amongst the rotation players.

Yeah, that makes more sense. 52% on twos for a guy who creates his own offense is pretty good.

Oh right, overall 46%. Delighted with that. I thought there’d be tons of drives into walls.

He shoots the occasional floater but a lot of his inside-the-arc attempts are from the charge/block circle and closer. He’s had some amazing finishes in that area, though.
