No thread for it so I figured I’d post this in the the other bad Detroit pro team thread. You guys are killing me blowing that game to the fins!
I was talking a lot of crap when you guys jumped out early too. I had some fins fans pretty upset, my Bills needed that buffer. Particularly since I expect the Packers to play well tonight.
Fun game tonight. Cunningham is looking good, Bey was expanding his game. Ivey has been very good this year. Bojan 20 points on 8 shots will do. Still think if/when Bagley/Noel/Burks are ready they have more options and can play different ways. Joseph hardly got any run which was interesting.
Ivey has been pretty good so far. Has one bad game but he came off from a flu. Otherwise, he’s been pretty consistent. He’s already great at getting to the hoops and making shots. His 3 pt shooting has been acceptable but can get better. The next step in his evolution is 3 pt shooting and mid-range shots as well as improving defense. These are all tangible steps for Ivey’s development.
I see a path where the Pistons can be really good. Just need an off-season or two for Weaver to develop depth especially at the wing.
Ivey’s at 46% from 2. I was thinking we’d have to live with sub 40% for the first few months. He’s also making some nice reads, and of course the 3pt sample size is even smaller than the overall shooting numbers, but still encouraging. I thought it would be a rougher breakin period. Very encouraged.
Stew is an NBA-rotation player. I’d rather he be our back-up C but he’s a guy every team can use. And, at least for the next 2 years, we have Bojan and Bags too.
Ivey’s 34.5% on threes at 4 attempts/game. Much better than I expected. It takes him a while to load up so most of these are when people are sagging off him but, with his first step, you basically have to sag off him.
If he can improve it to high 30s, it’s acceptable since it’ll be good enough to punish defenders on sagging off or going under the screen. I think he can do it
He shoots the occasional floater but a lot of his inside-the-arc attempts are from the charge/block circle and closer. He’s had some amazing finishes in that area, though.
