Detroit Pistons & NBA Talk

I’m liking the Pistons young core with Cade, Jaden, Bey, Beef, Duren (maybe Livers if he can stay healthy). They have a real need for 3&D wing players. A Keegan Murray type would help the team. Keegan Murray wasn’t the right time for the Pistons but after drafting Ivey, it’s now the right time to find this type of player. Maybe Kris Murray if he rises to the Pistons spot in the draft.

It’s early and we haven’t seen lots of these guys but the larger Thompson Twin or maybe Jarace Walker would seem like strong fits

I prefer 3&D wing players and I don’t think both have the shooting chop to help the team out. Then again, I’m looking at lottery prospects and they don’t fit the 3 and D profile that the Pistons need. They need shooting from the wing position and don’t demand the ball because they have Cade and Jaden.

In the OP, I disclaimed my mental state… but I still feel like this was a franchise-changing haul. Pistons fans should have fun in the middle part of this decade!

Ivey’s handle and the way he goes up for layups always looks awkward to me. But if he can refine those things and add some strength to take contact, h could be really good.

I didn’t mean that as an area of concern. I agree it’s encouraging because I think he will have better games just by playing the same way and shooting 5 more FT. Which is exciting (but ref dependent).

I’ve been pretty happy with Weaver in general but the Duren acquisition is wildly impressive. Essentially stole him out of nowhere and were adamant from evals that that’s their guy. He’s going to be incredible.

Bogey addition makes winning this year a lot more reasonable too

There will be growing pains. I’m at the point where I’m happy if they make the play-in but won’t be disappointed if they don’t as long as we see progress from the team. As long as they don’t finish with top 4 lottery odds which means it went below expectations for this young team.

Rough first quarter (all the starters had an awful first quarter) but his shot looked good and 3 of the 4 looked great coming off his hand. Played solid rest of the game on both ends.

The game was really won by the bench group - Orlando had 2 guards active, and 0 off the bench, and none of those guys for them played even vaguely ok. They played 3 centers for a few minutes!

He inherited the Jerami Grant/Cade treatment from the refs.

Jordan will probably screw that up too.

Saddiq for Franz- who says no?

Pretty sure the Magic, easily!

Probably so.

Hayes is by far their best perimeter defender.

Is this sarcasm?

I think I would say a loss was prevented by the bench group as they stemmed the tide after that abysmal first quarter. But starters closed out the first half and stretched the lead to double digits in the third quarter. Bench only scored 10 points (8 from Duren) in the first 7 minutes of the 4th and let the game get tied back up. Starters took the lead back and closed it out.

Was a weird bench lineup from the Magic with all that length. Helped get some offensive rebounds and alter some shots, but not a pretty thing to watch.

For sure so.

The extra “length” wasn’t really a choice.
