Detroit Pistons & NBA Talk

You would rather have the space. It’s an absurd signing.

Chris Boucher got a similar deal. Bagley is better imo and larger upside.

I take it back this is a tanking masterpiece. Sorry Nerlens, Bagley is a part of our future.

Guys Bagley is AWFUL.

Are you really seduced by 18 April basketball games

It’s moot because because 12 mil is not really that much more than a player of MBIII’s profile earns in the league.

His contract will be off in 3 years when we’ll really want to contend anyways. If by that time he becomes a good player we can flip him for assets and if he doesn’t we let his contract run out. It’s a minor gamble on a young player who was a top 3 pick. Do you folks just not want any NBA player to get a contract?

He’s not AWFU? He’s averaged 14/7 his entire career. He’s not a good defender but he’s not completely hopeless.

No he’s completely hopeless. Nigh unplayable in real NBA games.

This is a minimum two-fold overpay.

Whose minutes do you guys want to give him for the next three years - Duren or Stewart’s?

M8, he’s already been stealing Stewart’s minutes because Beefstew can’t catch a lob. If he’s ‘nigh unplayable’ then the rest of this team including Stewart is absolute dog because him catching alleyoops made our offense look that much better.

Not a good signing but also not crippling. Only thing that’s worry me is why weaver would want to do it at all

It’s long enough that the space can matter too. Nobody was going to sign him to this deal and if you really think he can be a part of the future you can get a team option.

Yeah no I agree overall. Super weird and I’m shocked it’s a whole 3 years. If he wasn’t the second overall pick there’s a 0% chance he gets anything like this

So what kind of contract do you all think a player MBIII commands?

This is a blemish on an otherwise perfect off season. But Weaver seems to always have more moves in play.

Well Enes Kanter made $2.6 million

So

$2.6 million

Enes Kanter was earning $17 million at Marvin Bagley’s age, putting up roughly the same offensive production with even worse defense.

And was stealing money

Now people know better and don’t pay him diddly

Troy loves him some “second draft” free agents:

I am sure you realize that giving a 29 year old Enes Kanter 2.6 million is different from giving 12 mil to 24 year old Bagley.

Woof part deux

Did he only watch Knicks games

Yeah it’s way better - almost 6 times better

Troy must really believe in Beilein’s ability to teach shooting. :grinning:
