Detroit Pistons & NBA Talk

Looks like the Pistons turned down the options on Garza, Carsen Edwards, and Frank Jackson, picking up the $5 million option on Hami (this whole thing went the way I would have wanted).

Now I hope they let Bagley walk, but I doubt it.

Bagley isnā€™t walking. Heā€™ll have a deal announced at about 6:00:01 Eastern I bet. They canā€™t finalize the trades with the Knicks until they first sort out Bagleyā€™s cap hold. The Knicks canā€™t move on Brunson until they finalize the deals with Detroit. They wouldnā€™t have agreed to the trades if Detroit didnā€™t already have an agreement with Bagley that would allow those trades to be done quickly.

Youā€™re probably right (ie, they canā€™t do the deal without signing him to a lower number than his cap hold)

I just think heā€™s trash.

I think I saw somewhere that it would be two years 22 million or something like that

Double digits for Bagley - who fits nowhere in their plans (I assume heā€™s lower on the totem pole than Stewart and Duren, and is worse today than Olynyk and Noel)

is nuts

My guess is Olynyk will be sent out in a trade for a more forward shaped power forward but who knows. But yeah I agree. Bagley played better in Detroit, but not enough that I believe in him at all.

Really hard to put much stock in the final 20 games of the season on a team thatā€™s not taking winning particularly seriously playingā€¦lots of teams who arenā€™t taking winning particularly seriously.

Iā€™ve stated a bunch, that I like Olynyk for this team because he at least gives them a path to provide Cade/Ivey with a spaced floor, something theyā€™re otherwise going to really struggle with.

I think it will be double digits for Bagley, but with a team option on the final year. Given they punted cap space to next year, I think signing him makes sense. Still potential they unlock something that becomes valuable in a trade, or at worst he is an expiring deal they can package up with other expiring deals in a trade to a team looking to rebuild.

A deal of two years or less for Bagley and thatā€™s fine

I agree that Iā€™d rather have Olynyk than Bagley since Olynyk can spread at the 4 position, at which case the team can do a well-spaced PnR pretty easily. If they flip Olynyk for a more forward shaped guy at the 4 who can also shoot, I am fine with that as well. And thatā€™s about what I expect to happen.

Or the second year is only partially guaranteed.

The only defense here is if thereā€™s a team option or some partial guarantees in multiple years

I would be very surprised if at least the last year isnā€™t an option year

Disgusting

Itā€™s an OK contract on a 23 yearold reclamation project for 3 years, itā€™s not that bad.

Sorry heā€™s worth like 1/3 that.

Not many players in the league are earning what theyā€™re ā€˜worthā€™, whatever that would mean so the point is moot.

I mean itā€™s not moot if they tying $12 mil in cap space for three years for their 4th center. He wouldnā€™t have gotten half this in the open market.

Would you rather have Bagley or Mo Bamba for 2/$21?

Or Isaiah Hartenstein for less?
This is more than Ivica Zubac.
This is just Weaver spiking the football to show he won the signing or whatever. How does he fit into a team with Stewart and Duren?
