This has got to be an all time “clutch performance” playoff run in any sport.
Couldn’t find much but found this
OKC took 13 more shots and 2 more free throws
Won turnovers by 18
And lost
I now know how opposing fans felt watching Michigan basketball last year!
Hali will get all the flowers, and deservedly, but they won this game on 10 threes from Toppin, Turner, and Nesmirh combined
Toppin had FIVE
And look good teams have scouting victories
The Hali trade was a heist
Nesmirh was a G Leaguer in Boston and came over with Juwan Morgan, Nik Stauskas, and Daniel Theis for Malcolm Brogdon and the got extended for 3 years/$33 million, an insane value
Nembhard the last pick of the first round
Everyone knew Siakam was good but somehow they got him for Bruce Brown, Jordan Nwora, Kira Lewis, and two first rounders that became Isaiah Collier and JaKobe Walters - another heist
Even if this ends up being an Iverson stepping over Tyron Lue moment, it still has made the finals more intriguing than I thought it would be after the first two games.
Excuse me
I’m in the clear since I wasn’t an active member until a few years ago, but I did like him at ISU. I believe Michigan was 2nd to ISU for Hali so it’s an another JB’s evaluation win.
I mostly just remember people being extremely frustrated that the announcers were hyping up Hali too much. I don’t know what was said because I was there, but for some reason it always makes me laugh (because he was quite good).
We had people slandering Hali less than a year ago before the Olympics, forget when he was a callow youth

I don’t remember Michigan offering him or having him on a visit at all?
According to 24/7, Haliburton had 3 non-mid-major offers, ISU, Nebraska and Minnesota. He took 2 visits - ISU and Nebraska.
Hmmm, I must be misremembering it because I know JB was pursuing Hali once upon a time.
I wanted the Pistons to take him because he played well against Michigan. How they play against Michigan is always my most important NBA/NFL Draft data point.
I also wanted Hali over Killian at the time. Nothing about Killian’s report that made me wanted him at 7. Unathletic, meh ballhandler, can only go left, and inconsistent shooting aren’t attributes that scream lottery pick to me.
Michigan made a late run in the summer and was close to getting him on campus for a visit. Haliburton wanted to stay loyal so he committed to isu, he’s talked about it on some podcasts.
Thanks for validating my memory! lol
could also be thinking of monte morris?
Yeah, Monte was the Derrick Walton backup plan iirc
