Hawks still need another guard. He’ll have chances this season as long as he can be healthy. If he’s not healthy he might not get another season tho
Also it’s the regular season there’s always minutes to go around.
Also also re: Kobe, guys who primarily contribute on offense take forever to good enough at making the ball go in the hoop. If he can just get healthy there’s no reason to write him off.
Let’s see if the Pistons can land Duncan for the shooting/spacing role. Between Beasley and Duncan, it’s a wash if nothing else, Duncan is bigger.
Biggest issue against the Knicks was having anyone other than Cade create offense. Monk, LeVert, Ivey really fixes that. Just need the spacing now. Fontecchio for Robinson in a S&T would be a good finishing move.
This would be pretty juicy honestly
Monk is flat out good
Seriously good four man back-court
Hardaway is by the worst of the various players we’ve discussed (Beasley, Hardaway, Schroder, Monk, NAW, Levert), and Schroder is by far second worst - they sort of don’t even belong in the convo with the others
This is serious upgrade territory, honestly
NAW’s cost, age, and impact is prob the best combo of anybody I’ve seen mentioned. It’s not, like, outlandish to think whoever the Pistons get will actually be the right guy bc they’re all pretty decent? But NAW top of list from what I can tell.
I think it’s a good sign they’re neither settling for a bargain bin type nor getting desperate and overpaying for somebody.
You know I am not a homer
I’d rather have NAW for three years
But right now I think Levert may actually be the best player of this group
If they get these four guards, I start thinking about lots of small ball with Ausar at the 4
Harris isn’t one of the five or six best players on this roster, imo
I’m skeptical of Caris unless somebody can convince me his sudden bump in 2pt% at this point in his career is likely to persist.
He’s obviously not a bad player ofc and again these guys are all right in the same vicinity.
You def hate Tobi Harris w respectable consistency. I think he’s rhe 4 version of all these guys. Lotta flavors of cromulence. Reminder the Pistons need Ausar, Holland, Ivey, etc to get considerably better to really take off.
I think he has more in ball juice than any of them other than Monk
Definitely the best defender
Don’t have much faith in him being an efficient scorer
2nd apron and extension eligibility has ruined rhe NBA
Honestly, I like it
Rockets look good? Lakers shaky? Nuggets sort of status quo?
I feel like I always underestimate the amount of minutes available in the regular season as there’s nearly always some guys out, but Ja-Jerome-Pippen seems like a lot of PG, and I do sort of wonder if the Pistons chasing two guards right now is some sort of indication of how they view Ivey.
The reporting now is that the Monk deal would actually be the Pistons signing Schroder and trading him for Monk.
firing Thibs for Mike Brown?!?!?!
I don’t think Brown is worse than Thibs, but I don’t really understand firing him for Brown (which clearly isn’t what happened, this seems like a fall back after what they wanted to do didn’t happen)
I think I’d have just taken a swing at a first time guy with some big ideas than a re-tread here, this team clearly needed some variance added to their game
Like, South Carolina says the Knicks talked to Dawn Staley - I just think that’s the sort of swing they should be taking because this roster is basically set in stone, you need to find someone who will unlock like 3-4 points of net rating improvement, and that’s not Mike Brown.
They wanted Jason Kidd
I like Mike Brown and think he’s plausibly an upgrade over Thibs. He did a very good job in Sac and I think he’s at least got the background to max out the Knicks better than Thibs.
That said, pretty clear the Knicks screwed something in their order of operations there.
