College Basketball Open Discussion

Really, the last 6-7 years of Dakich was a downhill run. I hated him ripping into college players on national TV and he seemed to be more full of himself with each broadcast.

Nobody else will tell you this but some coach told me that player’s attitude is no good.

Yuck. Hummel is much better.

“That shot fell for that player because he hustled on defense the previous possession. The ball knows.”

This is awesome content. I hate Duke but this is so good

And this. This is miles above what I’ve seen from other programs. Definitely compared to M football and basketball which act so secretive about everything imo to the detriment of fan engagement.

Well at least Dan’s choice to work for Clay Travis has clarified lots of things I’ve assumed about him given some of his comments.

I will just point out that a guy who excoriated a college freshman for a lack of competitiveness when deciding to end his freshman season has decided to quit his job, citing the fact that ESPN didn’t give him premier game assignments over Jay Bilas.

He’s now found an employer that not only won’t care, but will likely encourage his interest in his terminal case of being way too online and having empty sexist feuds with college professors on twitter dot com.

Yep duke easily does the best with the social media stuff. UM football and basketball acting like the Russians are spying is completely ridiculous. I was hopeful juwan would be more open coming from the nba(most nba practice are open) but that’s definitely not the case.

yeah I think maybe one day he could loosen up but currently he’s very guarded in general. Probably in part cause a bunch of a-hole Sparty reporters tried to gotcha him into committing a minor recruiting penalty every press conference early on

It’s always been so dumb. The competitive advantage of hiding practices has always seemed pretty ridiculous. I guess in football you want to hide a few trick plays, but honestly how often do you think coaches are all that surprised by how a team plays. There’s so much film these days that it’s all pretty easy to find.

Kind of a meh field, no?

Even in Vegas, Brad Davison still plans on grabbing some coconuts.

Jon Rothstein has Brandon Johns Jr. as a breakout player. Weird.

I’ve wanted to say all summer that Brandon will be a “breakout” player but for a variety of reasons I didn’t, none of which have anything to do with his talent. He is a much more talented player than we have yet seen in Ann Arbor and I DO think he’ll have a very good year. I think he’ll be one of the leaders of this team.

If you look at some of the better games he’s played during his career I think we’ll see that BJJ on a more consistent basis this season. I’ve always been a fan and I’ll be cheering hard for him this year.

What some of us believe he has inside of him, the talent and an ability to make an impact on both ends of the floor will be on full display this year. Just my thoughts early on a Saturday morning! Go Blue! :blue_heart:

Brandon’s problems throughout his Michigan career have almost entirely been related to consistency and opportunity. Those last 5 games after Livers went down, he got the opportunity with 26 mpg and he ended up averaging 9.4 ppg and 4.2 rpg plus 4 blocks and 5 steals. Not a stretch to think he could end up averaging something like 12/6 per game this year.

OK, that’s your opinion. I’ll keep mine. Opinions…that’s what message board discussions are all about.

I probably should edit this comment too, since it’s completely wrong as a result of my reading comprehension problems. Obviously DL’s and my opinion are pretty similar in that Brandon could have a very solid year and be a valuable contributor this year! Oh, my goodness, I must have been sleeping in class when they were teaching us to read!

It looks to me like you and @DLhoops have similar opinions. That Brandon Johns will show more consistency as a starter and could average double digit points and 5-6 rebounds.
I don’t expect Johns to average much more than 10 ppg because there are too many other scoring options on the floor with him. Dickinson, Houstan and Jones will all be double digit scorers. However, I would not be surprised to see Johns average more than 5-6 rebounds per game.

??? He is saying the same thing you did.
