College Basketball Open Discussion

Great move by Moser. OU is sleeping giant. They had a 20 year run from Mookie Blaylock (legend) to Blake Griffin (also solid) in which they recruited and won regularly. Like top 10/sweet 16 3 outta 4 years is my memory. Not sure they will get all the way back to that but life is better when there are a couple more teams in Big 12 past Kansas. (Yes I know Baylor is still playing.)

I’ve distanced from college basketball since Tuesday night and been fine, but man this really sucks watching pregame right now knowing what could’ve been.

Thought I was over it and now I’m depressed all over again. The UCLA loss will hurt until we get to see the team back in the court again.

Thomas Mars is back!

Can’t watch this. Too painful.

Was hoping this game would be good, because Gonzaga is gonna win by 20+ easy.

I hope so. Because I would feel a lot worse about Tuesday if UCLA were to beat Gonzaga. Too many what ifs in that scenario.

At least Baylor looks to have regained their peak form, so the title game should be terrific.

UCLA is a solid team riding an incredible wave of luck. Luck won’t be enough to keep them close to Gonzaga.

Yeah, even if Gonzaga hits only 50% of their free throws and 25% from 3, they probably still have too much for UCLA to keep up.

I have to say that I was extremely disappointed when Michigan lost on Tuesday - it stuck in my craw for a day or two, especially the “what if” aspect of that game. I didn’t think that I would want to watch these semis. But sports is what greatly assisted me to pass time during the pandemic shutdown. I watched the NBA “Bubble Playoffs” and that was helpful, especially watching Duncan R exceed our greatest expectations for him. Then college football, while not great for a Michigan fan, was a nice diversion to add to the awesome fall weather we had in our beautiful state. And then college basketball. I watched so much college basketball that I think I can tell you at least four out of five starters for each Big Ten team. (Except Michigan State because no one knows who starts for them.)

It was a joy to watch the young men on our Michigan team play inspired basketball and how Juwan Howard molded this group into a TEAM, and when your team wins, you hold your head a little higher and look forward to the next game (ours and others) with a little more anticipation. I think that college basketball helped us all a little bit over the last few months. (And I would be lying if I didn’t think that Dylan and the contributors on this site were a balm as well.)

I love college basketball. I understand those who don’t elect to watch these last games knowing what “could have been”. But as I write this, Baylor is playing a beautiful game of basketball. It is a symphony of movement and skill. I don’t mind this beatdown because I just want to see a good game on Monday and that most certainly means, that if Michigan isn’t going to be involved, I want to see Gonzaga and Baylor play a beautiful game of basketball. So I’m watching these games.

Just saw the score. Will watch the final, boycotting the semis. No freaking surprise. Houston was totally unimpressive in game after game. Baylor is a lot of points better than them. I still believe we were a solid 10-15 points better than a not great UCLA team. Which is why I’m a sad boycotting camper today.

They had some nice seasons but it’s not quite as impressive as that:

Nicely said and I agree w a lot. I will definitely watch the final if Zags advance.

Definitely but that’s why college is crazy. Start rough then you tighten up and crazy things start to happen that normally wouldn’t.

I’m with you, pretty sour. I thought we had a punchers chance and was pretty sure we were going to see it tonight.

Seems like UNC could have a coach today…

Man I hope he does well but that’s tough. UNC is a top 3 job and they’re hiring a guy who’s only experience is being Roy’s assistant. I’d have felt the same way if they hired Wes Miller.

But I do understand there may not be tons of great and willing to listen outside candidates right now

Another hire of a Black alum with NBA experience. Love seeing better representation in the coaching ranks, and love that Juwan’s success gave what is now multiple blue bloods a path to follow.
